What would you like to see made for the Escape?

I'm ready to work on my next 3d-printed mod, and I'll make it available once I work it out. What would you all like to see most?

1. An organizer for the medicine cabinet
2. Custom silverware drawer organizers
3. Toggle latches to keep the cabinet doors closed
4. Mechanical ties to link milk crates more rigidly than the standard zip ties. Perhaps something that allows the use of bolts.
5. An improved shower drain insert for the wet bath.
6. Storage solution for the manual awing and stabilizer jack crank
7. Refrigerator organizer (wife requests something to store eggs without them breaking)
8. Something else/other?

Galley cabinetry redesign for the 21 NE… as an engineer, the lack of symmetry with the drawer and cupboards faces drives me crazy. (My wife teases me about this aspect of my personality!) I’d like to see a pull out garbage drawer under the sink, a wider cutlery drawer, with a similar drawer under for tin foil, plastic food wrap, tongs, spatulas, etc. I understand that the wheel wells are limiting, however, it would be nice to have an oven with more than 4-1/2” of height (for a roasted chicken) and a broiler.

Sorry for the daunting task.

Well if he was to attempt those tasks with his 3D printer they would be.

I’d be happy with the just the 3d model on a screen. Perhaps I’ll have a go with Sketchup…

I went with the convection microwave. I can actually bake bread in there. I think it's a lot more capable than a propane oven. You might be able to put in a portable convection microwave if you don't have the factory one.

A funnel for the water fill when using bucket or a gallon or multi-gallon container to pour water into the water tank. There are some places up north where you only have the Baker Pump for access to water.

If you really want it, there are various commercial and homemade fill funnels already made for trailers to allow two hand pouring by yourself.

I’m sure some of the “commercial” ones are printed rather than moulded.

There are funnels available. I have trouble lifting those big jugs and dumping them into the trailer even with a funnel. So I bought a small oscillating water pump (same one as in the trailer, they're dirt cheap), screwed it to a board and hooked it up to a 12 cigarette lighter plug. Then I made an adapter that that allows the pump to be connected to a garden hose on one end, and a pickup on the other end.

When I need water, and a hose attachment isn't available, I full 5gal jugs and haul them over to the trailer in a wagon. Then I put the pickup hose in the jug, connect the hose I use for filling the fresh tank to the output of the pump, and turn on the pump. No lifting required, and it drains the jugs FAST.

Something like this, that screws into the water connection and doesn't cost $70 to ship to Canada for a 3D printed $2 part.

I voted cabinet latches. The Escape is pretty secure but we do find the odd cabinet open when we stop or at our destination. We bunjee corded our last trailer but I don't want to do that one with this one as it scuffs up the cabinet and hardware.

Rather than having to use a funnel I find it far easier to use a pair of these small jerry cans that have a spout that almost holds itself in position without much help. Doesn't spill a drop either.

Together they hold about 5 gal. One in each hand makes walking to a hose bib no big deal.

Easy to keep topped up and grab some water when it's available.

I've also put a piece of wood crossways on the back of my bike and used them like saddlebags when water was a distance away.

@Ron in BC

I have a Scepter Military water jug, 5g/20L.

Unfortunately, Scepter uses ACME threads or something else from the 1800s, so I have yet to find a non $50 Scepter attachment that will work on it. On the plus side, built for life.

I'm hoping the Camco Water Bandit will work on it, then I'll thread the ever popular water spout on the other end.

Camco RV Water Tank Filler with Shutoff Valve Quickly and Efficiently Helps Fill Your Water Tank and Eliminate Line Backflow Features a 5/8 inches Tube (40003) https://a.co/d/8sFMeiz

I'll find out later today when the Water Bandit gets delivered.

Those look pretty nice Ron. You wouldn't have a brand or link to them by chance?
Thanks,
Sherby

That jerry can certainly fills the bill size wise. If the filler you've ordered doesn't attach very well then maybe a spout would be a good job for a 3D printer.

Unfortunately I bought them years ago in Greece for my boat. Water in the Med. is strictly grab it when you can. I've filled them from public fountains in towns and lugged them down all the steps from the top of Santorini. Trailering is so much easier.

El cheapo

I use a 2 liter plastic pop bottle with an oval cut into its side midpoint. It works well and even holds into the opening somewhat.
Used it today, solo, filling from 1 gallon Arizona tea jugs.

I have some funnel that fits, but I have a 5 gallon water jug with a wide mouth and a small cylinder shaped 12V pump that I can just drop in the jug and pump into the tank.

Gravity from a jerry can with a good spout is free.
