Our 2018 is a hair over 22 3/4.
Keep in mind that the 2018 model door opens all the way.
I think you will have to undo the door restraining system of the 2020 model that keeps the door from opening more than half way.
I am sure someone with a late model can explain further.

Thank you . hopefully someone with the new door can jump in, but at least i know it will fit if I remove door stop witch i think might be the case anyways.

The stock door comes with a "stop" attached to the bottom of the door, basically a pneumatic opener closer that stops at 90 degrees. Held on with 3 screws in the floor part, I left the attachment know on the door bottom and use a suction cup on the exterior fg to hold it open with a bungee strap. More light and air compared to the partial opening. Pictures tomorrow.

I just measured the door opening, with the door at 90 degrees, stock, 20.5" wide, with the door open 180 degrees, 22.5" wide. Do not forget there is a screen door attached to the inside of the door.

Here are some pictures....3 holes that I'll need to fill where the plunger attached to door opening frame bottom. Suction hook in use to hold door open now. Storm door plastic panels installed. Keeps the inside warmer in the winter and fall, with the door open or closed.

very helpful with pictures. Got me thinking i wonder if you could request they don't mount the piston. maybe these are prehung door units . I must say I am Nott a big fan of the 90 degree door. I am sure I have to remove mine just for the clearance i need.

I may have asked and they said no but with the tool they give you it took maybe 3 minutes in the parking lot to fix. You will need a suction holder for windy days. Eventually I will add the old style stanchion attached to the shell, once I modify the cubbies and get behind there for the support.

Have you considered a smaller dog, asks the owner of two 70+ pound standard poodles? I didn't think so...

And, once through the door, where are you going to put this kennel?

The kennel will set on the dinette bench. either with table up or down. This would only be at night and only when the dog is muddy. I love my dogs but I do hunt them and I don't want a muddy dog in my bed. The place to put the dog has became a big issue on the escape 19. with the Casita it was easy dog new her spot was under the bed and loved it under there. It worked great because she was out of the foot traffic way. I don't think this will work on the 19 as the floor steps up. I thought of lifting the bed for more storage.I also give the idea of under the passenger side dinette. I think i need the trailer to work it out for sure.

It looks to me you could also get a smaller kennel. When we first started traveling we carried a medium and a small kennel inside the truck, one for a 75lb lab and another for a 45 lb lab. Left the cages in the truck, never tried to put them in the trailer. We use towels and rugs for them inside the Escape. After out first cross country trip, we left the cages at home, they travel better uncaged in the back seat of the truck.

I should have mentioned she just a pup now.15lbs she will be between 40-45lbs and that kennel is up to 45lbs . as long as i can get it there the door I will be good. other times she can just lay under dinette on a bed.

I have the collapsible metal crates that fold down flat when not in use, something like this

They would be great for portability .But the main reason for the heavy duty crate is in the event of a accident these crates would provide more protection in back of truck if attached properly. of course I could carry a foldable for just the camper. But rather use the one for both.

These our things we don't think about until it happens

Perhaps turn one dinette bench into her kennel? Keep the regular kennel in the tug.

That might be a good idea. I ordered the door in the passenger side dinette. It be nice if i could just turn that into a kennel. Hard to tell for sure until i get the trailer.

It may work now that the dog is smaller, but this time next year will be a different story. Of course by then it may not need a kennel. Our dogs take over the floor in the Escape.
