2014- 19 Screen door cartridge help

There are a few great how to postings on this. I was able to remove the screen door cartridge as a result.

Dog flew thru the door (my mistake) causing the screen to not recoil. Bottom black color tract twisted. Closing awkward. Did not find any broken pieces.

I prefer to fix if possible.

I will attach a photo of it on the driveway unwound.

Two questions:
1. What "secured" the screen to the black articulated recoil bottom?
2. Can the tooth paste be put back in the tube?

I don't think the screen is secured to the black guides on the bottom. It just rests between the rails. We had a dog who went through the screen a couple of times. We just retracted the door all the way and then opened it again. and the screen was good as new.
