21' extended cabinet
We have a 21' ordered with an early June delivery. I have recently discovered there is an extended cabinet option available. We are wondering about the pros and cons of this option. Also, would love to see photos of with and without.
Thanks

Post #1515 in the "It's Friday - 2017 & Beyond" thread shows the standard drawer stack extended to the ceiling with a second wardrobe/pantry (4th photo down), if that's what you mean.

Here are two pics from the " It's Friday!" thread. Great place to see a lot of build pics. This thread is where a lot of us learned more about the new designs.

I wish they had still been putting the little cabinet above the microwave when our 2017 was built, but we still have more storage space than we really need without it, so no big loss....

I'm very glad we were still able to get it. We got in just as they decided to take it away. I commented to them how much I wanted it (okay, bitched up a storm about it) and we got it. then they stopped offering it - bummer! I stuff lots of things up there.
We got the extended cabinet in ours and really like it. Things are arranged differently from when I took this photo and I use something else for dirty clothes (top shelf), but you'll get the idea of what it looks like. We had them add in a shelf in the middle and it's working out really well. We never wanted a TV in the trailer nor do I want to leave things out on the counter that's normally there if you don't get the extended cabinet.
With the extended cabinet you get a flip up table, which I have used from time to time. I also added on a strap to keep that table (and the one at the end of the kitchen counter) from flopping around while in transit.
The extended cabinet was well worth the money to us.

One other option is to keep the regular drawer stack there and add an extra window over the drawer stack. We saw it on a couple of 21's and decided to get it and we love it. It is the same as the bathroom window and provides a little extra ventilation and natural light. But then we got the front window on our 21' too. We value the natural light and views, and have plenty of storage space already. Just a thought.

Wait...What? We are not getting the extended cabinet but I didn't have any idea that ETI would put a window above the regular drawer stack. I am adding that to my build sheet. If anyone has a photo of that window I would love to see it. Is there some unpublished build sheet option list that I need to see?

Awhile back I tried to get a thread going with things folks have done to the drawer stack in a 21. Adding a window or extending the stack are two things that would be nice to have on that thread...

Matt and Mary
Please let us know what Escape has to say about adding a window over the regular drawer stack on the new generation 21'.

Yes Bob I will let you know. I think the Escape Office is closed today through Jan 1. I will call them on Jan 2 and post their response on this thread. I really do like the idea of a window over the standard drawer stack cabinet. I would never have known that was a possible option without this forum. I hope it still is an option.

We use the extended drawer stack so we have a his and hers closets. You can guess which is who's.

This is a great option if you can live without the TV stand. We had the extension built, eliminated the two drawers, and instead created two cabinets, each with one shelf. It’s awesome for his-hers clothes storage.

Back in June 2016, when I asked Tammy at ETI that same question, she quoted us the same price as for adding a similar window in the bath/shower, which at the time was $300 for a small frameless thermal opening window. Our initial interest was to add ambient light over the counter top space and for a foot-of-the bed-cross ventilation window that could be left open even in the rain. Then we realized, for us, the stuff we would likely place on the counter top while camping would probably block most of the light and air movement, so why bother. So we didn't add it, and we are not sorry. We get plenty of light and ventilation otherwise.

Note that that was $300 CAD, or $240 USD (roughly) as of today's exchange rate.
