5.0 king pin measurements

I’m looking for the width of the King Pin Box on the 5.0 TA
Also how far the pin box extends beyond the body of the trailer.

I’m thinking about getting the DEMCO auto slider hitch and if I even need it.

I asked these questions on Escape Industries forum and they referred me to their
( https://escapetrailer.com/the-5-0-escape/ ) link. I don’t see that information I’m asking for in that link.

Here is an info sheet that might help. You shouldn't need a slider hitch so save on the weight.

And here FYI is the dimensional data on the pinbox itself (including width though I fail to understand how that enters into the equation at hand); the Escape 5.0 uses OEM model 1716 / replacement model L07.

The only 'missing' dimension is from the centerline of the kingpin to the front edge of the pinbox bearing plate; on mine that measures 5-1/8".

Between the this and the already linked ETI info you should have all the answers to your question, hope that helps.

Just curious, care to share what specific truck / bed you are evaluating? There's always the possibility a member here has experience with that specific rig they will share.

Thank you Ian, Sue and Centexi. That is the information I need.
I see where the measurement for the tip of the King Pin Box and face of the trailer was on the original link. I just didn’t connect the 5 7/8 measurement up high.
That’s embarrassing.

I have a 2018 Chevy 2 by 4 Silverado with the 6 1/2 foot bed. There is a fuel tank in the front of the bed and the pump sticks above the rail. My concern is pulling into gas stations or parking lots and having the trailer hit the pump. Now that I have the measurements I can see if I need to be concerned.

This forum is great.,

After taking a few measurements I think the Andersen Rail hitch will work and save over a hundred pounds. I should be able to get close to 90 degrees turning to the left and 70 (+) to the right . With the lift kit (which we want) I could get close to that 90 to the right, but with only a inch or two of clearance.

I’m going to go with the Andersen rail hitch.

Thank you for the help

occer, you will be very happy with that hitch. We have the gooseneck version of the Andersen hitch in our F150 6.5' bed and love it.

Enjoy
