Alternative uses for bike rack receiver
I'm interested in what people have hitched to their TT receiver, besides a bike rack. BBQ pit, flag pole, toy hauler?
First, maybe some clarification. What is the weight capacity of the receiver? And what size?

My 21 had a small sticker at the receiver saying 150 pounds max on it when I took possession last month.

I've seen where some make a cloths dryer that mounts in the bike receiver. (Like the folding wooden ones you see for your home)

In order to get a bit more storage room for my 300+ day trips, I added a Stowaway II storage box to my 17B. I have to limit the weight of what I store in it, but it does provide an outside, dry storage area.

Good point about the weight. Low tongue weight = bad trailer handling, and the number one reason for sway.

Max weight on my 21' bike rack receiver is 150 lbs. After some measurements, using our chosen rack, I found that for every 2 lbs applied to that receiver, 1 lb is removed from the tongue. So, our two bikes and the rack that carries them weigh about 100 lbs, reducing the tongue weight by 50 lbs. Other trailers, and their carriers distance from the tail end of the trailer, would probably be different so measuring the affect would be a good idea.

We will be trying out this setup in a couple of weeks. Resolved to keep as many heavier items toward front end as possible. Extra liquid refreshments under bed toward front and as many miscellaneous items in front storage as possible. Have you noticed any significant change in handling?

Hey ,
The mount can be used for anything you can affix to a 2 " square tube mount and within the weight limit of the mount. You're only limited by applicable laws and your imagination and needs / interests. Thus far you have listed BBQ, Flag pole, Drying rack, Bike rack, storage box someone here hauls a dirt bike and another hauls a mobility scooter . What about an vertical or horizontal Kayak or Canoe some of the small one person units are not that long, folding boat , trash container / bag holder, telescope mount , umbrella mount, dog tie out d ring, humming bird feeder pole and so on

Another good point. With the 21 being longer and having tandem axles, the impact on tongue weight by adding something to the rear is reduced.

I like the kayak idea! What I really want is to use it for a propane grill that could attach to the quick connect. Im not sure how practical this would be though. Ive only seen a few "tailgate" grills for sale, and they are insanely expensive.
Im considering finding some sort of hitch mount and welding a grill too it. Has any one seen or done this before?

This last weekend I saw what looked like a 30' or so stick built trailer with another 10' trailer with an ATV on it. That's more than I would want to tow and is it even legal? Looked like a train. Loren

It is by state as to whether it is legal.

Where did your dryer come from? It comes with a piece that fits into the bike rack spot or you made one?
You have an additional battery on the rear?
