This seems like an obvious leak point that the designers should have addressed and manufacture should have never allowed to leave the factory.
Plywood is epoxied to the bottom of the shell.

Stuff happens. This is exhibited by the many product and vehicle recalls out there. It is not as much that this stuff happens, but how it is dealt with when found out about. Without a doubt, the vast majority of Escape owner's are satisfied with the after sale service they get.

Ive got a 21' 2017 completed in dec, delivered in feb. First significant rain storm we had in the area caused a pool of water on the floor at the base of the refer. Fortunately I found it quick and was able to dry out with a dehumid. Notified escape that day. Rec'd response that they had just become aware and were finding fix. Y'all know the rest of story with emails n packages. Have not applied perm fix yet but did temp. It stopped the leak in all later rains, so this water path is more than a theory. If u got the kit, good idea to apply the fix. Wish it didnt happen but eti addressed it w/o denials and did so fairly quickly.

A significant part of our choice of Escape was quality of construction. An early question of mine was: "do they use OSB, MDF, or particle board (engineered wood products that swell in the presence of water).? Answer, NO. Our 2015 E17 has only plywood and dimensional lumber, no OSB, MDF, or particle bd.

Would that be one or two wrongs on my part?

Speaking of what materials are used:
Another feature about ETI that impressed us when we ordered: We got a tour of the manufacturing line at lunch time, the first time we visited to confirm our order and discuss options. How many manufacturers let you see exactly how they build their stuff? How many send you build photos? Among RV mfrs, ETI is the only one I know we know of!

Our 17B was delivered on Feb 21. I went out and took a picture of the same area for comparison. There isn't any spray foam in that area, but no Proflex either. I assume it's not a problem since we've already been through some torrential rains and I haven't seen any water intrusion. The 17B with 3 cu ft. fridge is obviously different from the 19 or 21 so maybe it was never an issue.

I went out and examined my refer area. It seems that there is a drop of maybe 1/2" from the frame wall to the compartment floor, my foam is along the wall where the compartment meets the frame wall. The foam does not rise enough to obstruct the vents and one can see where water has entered and exited down the condensate drain in the compartment floor middle. The foam had some sort of clear sealant along it's interior edge as well as on top. Because it is below freezing and we are expecting more rain, sleet and snow I wanted a temporary fix. I applied warm butyl tape along the edge to form a wedge the entire length of the compartment. So there is no foam exposed, no blockage of the vent tracks and then entire area sealed with butyl tape. I'll ask Reace his opinion at Osoyoos and bring the Proflex with me just in case he says to seal the butyl tape edges also.
photo 1 and 8 shows the butyl tape along the wall edge
photo 2 and 3 and 4 shows where water has drained down the hole
photo 5 and 7 is where ETI formed a sealed dam along both sides of compartment
photo 6 shows the residue of the sealant all along the edge and on top of the foam
photo 9 my bug screens on the vent

I can not tell from the pictures, but they seem to indicate a flush surface where the foam was blocking the vent tracks. I did not have that due to a drop in my compartment and the foam was not blocking anything since you can see where water has entered and drained out. I chose the butyl temporary fix until later this summer when the Proflex may be needed and it is warmer to work outside.

Just went out and looked at ours on a 2013 . Tell me what is different ? Foam installed the same places as the newer units . Looks like the front area where we also have the foam is higher all the way down before the drain . It is not too dirty because we clean it out all the time back there . Where's our Proflex ? Pat

The area is right along the exterior wall, not underneath the refer. In you second picture you have a seam by you opening and also you have the older style compartment. I think the issue is only with the new style units. Also note you have no drain hole in the bottom, so yours is entirely different, unless that tape is covering your drain hole?

Also you have the condensate cup so your drain is not being used and it appears you have no water intrusion based upon how clean it looks. I'd say your unit is fine.

Hi Jim . The foam runs all in front as your son . There is a drain there too . Hard to get the I-pad in there to get pictures . I'll go try again . Pat
