Attachment for 17b bed?

Hi
This came with the 2005 17b we bought. It slides into the double bed area when down. Like an extension. I am not really sure what it is for. A dog maybe? Does anyone have this? We are packing for a very long trip and it is heavy, so I don’t know if we should keep it.
Thanks

Is it to use instead of the table as a support or is it to sub in for the table? I wouldn't take it unless you were not ever going to use the dinette. Maybe it felt more solid than the table.

Somewhere there is a thread on how a 17B trailer member had made a " bed extension " that allowed them to sleep " head from back window and foot end into the isle " - to have a larger bed altogether. That plywood looks like it may be just that extension.

I believe it fits in to extend the bed. Once the table is down, the extension fits around the table, then extend the legs down, cover the extension with cushions. It will allow tall people to sleep length ways in the trailer.
If you fit in across the trailer for sleeping, you won't need it.

Thank you. Yes exactly what I thought. It is shorter than the dinette and it does go there but just didn’t have any cushions. Maybe we will take it with us and see if we need it. We haven’t all four actually slept in the camper yet so it might be really helpful for my husband at some point at least.

We did have one exactly like that. I “ think” we gave it away a number of years ago because we weren’t using it. ( maybe at a rally) It was a great idea and gave us a king sized bed until about the knees.

Reace actually designed it for us…

For the “pillows” on the extension we used the two smaller back cushions from the front dinette and put the bottom fitted sheet over the whole extension piece.

After awhile we were tired of packing “ one more thing” and just went back to sleeping the other way.
