Atwood 3000 Manual Operation

Hi Guys:

I've attached the picture of the adaptor I got with my Atwood power jack.

Other than a portable drill, what else can you use to connect to the triangular end?

Maybe a set of vise grip pliers??
Or small pipe wrench??
The adapter would not be used very often so using the pliers would not be too bad a solution? Assuming the pliers fit/spin within the space where the adapter connects? The pliers could also be used for other tasks that may arise, not a one tool/one job item.

There may even be a socket size that would grip the adapter. The adapter has 3 large and 3 small faces, standard nuts have 6 faces. Worth a try if you already have a socket set.
There are also different face configurations inside the socket, one type may be better than another?

See link below for one socket type that is configurable to a range of nut sizes. I've seen these but never used one.

Or this handle from etrailer

Guess they expect everyone to carry a cordless drill/driver. If you want to go with a manual crank, try this. I believe I got something like this but longer from ETI for the 5.0TA jacks, but I'd have to go look.

Replacement Manual Crank Handle for Atwood Power Jacks and 5th Wheel Landing Gear Atwood Accessories and Parts 87891

Can probably get one from any camper supply shop.

Hello Huskersteffy.
I cranked mine too much, raised it to let the snow slide off.
It jumped out of gear so used a slip joint plier to bring it back down.
Tried with power drill and it almost tore out of my hand and damaged the socket.
Got it to work, but promptly ordered the handle from e-trailer just in case it would be needed.Goes in the box of spare tools.Good to have.
Allan.

Thanks everyone. Will order the manual crank from etrailer. Don't like the idea of being stuck somewhere just because of some electrical issue or that the electric jack gave out.

I guess I need to order one too. I had not payed attention to the adaptor yet. Nothing except a drill seems to work on it.
