Atwood Electric Tongue Jack Noises
My Atwood tongue jack has been making these noises for a while. Quite loud. Anyone else experienced this?

Ours is loud also. It sounds more like it is grinding up the gears than yours but still loud...
My husband demonstrated it for Reace when he was fixing our plumbing. He didn't have any ideas on what to do about it. Our plan is just to use it until it fails but it sometimes does attract attention in a campground.

Fred, I'd be interested in knowing the model number of your power jack. In my case it's a "premier performance" that uses an acme screw/ball bearing drive, which is much quieter than most of the power jacks I've seen.

If the sound on my computer is correct, I hear an intermittent grinding sound, i.e., quiet and then noisy. Is that correct?
Not knowing what's inside, it almost sounds like a bearing. Is there one? Or that the gears/screw aren't meshing properly. Can you remove the head to check the appearance? What about adding more grease? Is that possible?
Just some thoughts.

Hi Robert,
I believe I have the same model.
The paperwork suggests the tube to be coated with a light coat of silicone spray lubricant on an annual basis. Not sure if this will help, but I will give it a shot tomorrow.

Yes, that is how it sounds!

Yes, gonna pull the cover off tomorrow and do some exploratory surgery. Not sure about the grease.

They're sealed units, so as far as I know it isn't possible to lube the acme screw. Very strange that yours is making such a racket, as mine is super quiet.
The good news is they have a 5 year warranty. I'd probably contact Atwood for a replacement rather than fool with the innards.

The paperwork refers to the tongue jack as a 12-volt DC motor driven "screw jack".

Well, that's true, since the Atwoods have an Acme screw inside.

I just don't remember it sounding this loud when we got the trailer. Do you think it's just me?

Ours was noisy just before it totally stopped working. Contacted the local Atwood repair / warrantee depot in Calgary, they checked it out and gave us a new replacement jack. This was on our 2014 within the first year.

Hey Fred- mine is noisy and goes clunk from time to time too. That's because like you we use it a lot. You still have another year under warranty, so don't worry(:

That model has a 5 year warranty, so he should have about 4 years left.

Hi Fred - We have been enjoying your posts and pictures from eastern Canada.
Re Electric Jack Noise - We had a similar problem on our 2016 Escape 21' that continued for about 6 months and then became unnoticeable. I was concerned enough that I took it to a local Atwood service center and they said "it's working fine. Bring it in if it breaks" and sent me on my way. I was concerned enough that I bought the Atwood manual crank piece that enables one to crank the jack up or down if the electric unit fails. So far the attachment has not been needed, fortunately, for any fast getaways. Be Well - Jim Tischer, Woodland, CA

You are correct. I sprayed some lubricant in a small opening but that is about it. OK. I will address this in San Antonio in a couple of months.
