Bathroom Fan

Anyone had the bathroom fan button come loose? Last week I tried to turn the fan on and the button came loose and moved up inside the fan enclosure. What sort of retainer hold the button in place?

There are 3 screws on the bottom of the fan enclosure. I don't know if that's all that has to be removed to get at the button or not.

Anyone have this problem?

Looks like it is just a knurled nut that goes over the button.

I'll look on the floor when I get back to the trailer and see if simply fell off. I don't remember when I used it last before this.

yeah, those are very cheap plastic pushbutton switches with a skinny plastic knurled ring.

they are fairly standardized sizes, so if you can find a similar pushbutton or toggle switch, likely the nut for it will fit.

I'll stop in at Lowe's when I'm in Kingsville next week and see what I can find.

PB: You should be able to take a small screw out of each side of the handle to take it off. They you can pull the screen down to get to the pushbutton. You shouldn’t have to touch the screws on the outer trim ring.

I had a plastic locking ring break in half on a shop vac one time and the switch dropped inside the housing. I was able to fish it out and I replaced the ring with a metal ring and it’s been in place for years. Might be an option

Thanks, If I can't pull it back thru the opening with some needlenose, that's what I'll do.

I decided to do a temp fix until I find something that works better. Which means the temp will probably become perm. Really awkward in there as I'm 6'4" and have rather large hands. Not ideal for such small devices.

I managed to take hold of the red button with some needlenose and pull it thru the opening and put a wing nut on it. Doesn't look so hot but I don't spend much time in there looking at the fan.
