Bathroom Vent Fan Not Working

I think I've seen posts on this topic before, but we are currently camping along the Nueces River in southwest Texas and I don't have my laptop to do a proper search.

The fan in the bathroom doesn't work. First time I noticed it was last night when taking a shower. Push the little red button and nada.

Should I be looking for a fuse first or a wiring issue? It worked fine before.

Thanks Bob, I'll check the switch. Do you have any info on where to get the replacement?

I'm assuming it's this one:

Robert: there is a fuse that is wired in that blew on ours. That is likely the cause before the switch. It is accessible from the inside but a bit awkward. I cut it out and wired through and it works great. Should probably replace but also fused at the panel. Ours blew because someone closed the fan before turning it off or turned it on before opening. This jams the fan and over amps the fuse.

That was probably the cause with ours Dave. Sometimes showing others how things work is a bit of a challenge. Yesterday I entered a steam filled trailer and had to remind my wife to use the fancy new SAM-1 Range Hood Fan I installed last year....

Good tip! Can you see the fuse or is it hidden?

I had the same problem when I purchased my trailer new. It turned out to be a fuse that is inline and taped to the motor. It was not on the manufacturer's schematic. ETI sent me a new fan and I exchanged the fuse. I didn't take out and replace the fan because the caulking inside and out was so well done, just the fuse. Very nimble fingers are needed to do this.

The fuse is not easy to see. I remember taking the handle off and the small bug screen first. As Tom indicates the fuse was taped to the motor and it is not mentioned in the Ventline fan literature. I think the only way I knew it was there was from a forum post where it was mentioned.

Here is the original thread which mentions the fuse and has a link to a replacement part from Amazon.
