Battery: inverter working but lights do not

Hi all,

Thanks to all who replied to my previous post on a related subject. One thing is still unsolved -- when I turn off the shore power, the battery+inverter work fine, powering the outlets, but the lights do not come on. I've checked all the fuses on the WFCO for continuity - they check out fine. The battery voltage is fine too (well, again -- the outlets work through the inverter). Where should I be looking next?

Thanks.

Is the 12vdc disconnect switch on?
12vdc fuses in the distribution panel?

Start by telling us if ANY 12 Volt items are working when the lights are not. For example: water pump, fan(s), heater, etc.

If every 12 Volt device is working - except the lights - then we have one problem. If none are working that is a different problem.

And I assume from your message that everything, lights included, is working when you are plugged in - please confirm.

We need this info to narrow down the possibilities.
Thanks,
Alan

If the battery disconnect switch is on (and working) and all converter fuses check out OK, there is a 40 amp in line fuse in the battery case that is connected to the wiring between the battery & converter. That would be the next thing I'd check. Some wiring configurations also have a 40 amp auto reset thermal circuit breaker in series with the battery wiring that is worth checking.
