I'll get you a photo tomorrow. There is also room for other stuff.

This is the Napoleon 285 that I have. There are other models including one that has a very shallow lid.

I use the shallower one, no problem cooking pizza, muffins and the usual stuff, it also has a open grill on one side and a flat one on the other, very useful.

Yup. Mine only fits in the aisle of the trailer, or in the back of the tow. Tall lid for those whole chickens.
But, that's OK, because I don't have the front storage box.
The important thing is yours also has two burners so you can cook indirect.

I like the 2 burners, indirect would be nice. Would go for it were I in the market.
I didn't read the whole thread, can you modify it to run it off the external gas port?

Here is a couple of photos, first shows a low platform that holds the bbq from side-to-side. I also use two thin bungee cords going from back to front over the top of the bbq to hold it down to the platform.

Looks great, Chris. I guess I do have a bunch of room in front of my BBQ.

This is how our Weber Q2xxx travels.
We have a storage rack on our rear bumper that we use to carry items that we don't want to store inside or in our vehicle.
The Rock is large enough to carry three action packer totes, or the Q and fire pit.
We also keep a folding table as well.

This is very helpful Chris. Do you happen to know the dimensions of the hatch opening...I’m wondering if it is the same as my front hatch on the 21. Thanks

I can tell you the E21 hatch is smaller, no more than 9" high

I finally purchased and have road-tested a portable gas grill. All the great input from my fellow Escapees made all the difference and the journey a delight. I can’t thank you enough.
My goal was a quality gas grill that I could store on board my 21. What I settled on was the Napoleon Q285 ((TQ285-RD-1-A). It’s a great two burner grill and came with a griddle plus two cooking grids. We’re very happy with the grilled meats that are coming off it. While there was no info on line to help guide the regulator conversion (and Napoleon would not help at all) it was really very simple to do.
The deciding point for the Q285 was storage. Verses the Weber 1200 the dome is less high and the feet tuck under, so it’s storage height is less. Because of this I am able to finagle it into the front storage hatch on my 21. First I easily remove the dome cover by pulling the two hinge pins on the back. With the dome off the bottom fits through the hatch opening with room to spare. Once it is in, I slide in the dome into its normal position on top and then reinsert the pins and close the lock on the handle. It may sound annoyingly complicated but it really isn’t. The whole grill slides into a cozy niche in the front right side of the compartment.
I would recommend this grill and storage solution to all 21 owners

Is the compartment sealed from the insides of the trailer? I find my grill starts to smell after being on the road a while. At home I can clean it good, but not so much when traveling.
I do like the Napoleon, if I didn't already own the Q it's the one I'd get. Much prefer 2 zones.

The compartment is the big one under the bed. It not air tight and we are concerned about grill smells...which are great when your hungry but not so appetizing in the middle of the night! So far I can report there have been no unwelcome odors coming up from below. The dome is on tight while in transit and I clean the grill up as best I can before I put it away (I’m on my 3rd grill brush and think I finally have one that will work). I line the grease tray with foil and dispose of this often (really more for the critters big and small). So it working so far.

I would at least place a large trash bag around it to keep any mess and smell contained.

Weber Q seems interesting since its just portable and seems handy for trips. What I have is just a really cheap griller and it's kinda bulky so thanks for sharing this product.

Our baby Q. Modified quick connect direct to propane, the protective wood case turned upside down is the table.

That is a great idea, it is always nice to have multi-purpose items in a travel trailer....

Our 17B doesn't have an oven, so we went with the Q1200. It's a bit bigger than a baby Q1000.
It can bake a cake, roast a chicken, or cook bacon, eggs and toast for breakfast. It's by far the best gas grill I've ever owned for grilling a steak.
We tow with a pickup truck so storage isn't an issue, the tailgate is the table. They have a drip pan I line with foil. It catches any drippings so easy to dispose of. I run it off of a 20 tank in the pickup. I keep a few of the green bottles for portability if needed.
The trailer stove is only used to boil water for coffee, heat up soup etc. We didn't feel a need for a microwave. On our first trip we had a microwave in the back of the truck and never plugged it in so won't bother with it again.
