Bed Lift for Mattress Only?

I posted this on the ETI blog page but didn’t get any replies! Am trying here:
OK, we have owned our 17B trailer for over a year now, and we love it so far and it’s very convenient, except for one thing….having a bad back, I find it quite difficult to lift just the mattress in order to change the sheets! The wonderful ladies with Adventures in Nomadness offered a Youtube video on installing a bed-lift kit for the cabinet lid that the mattress rests on, in order to access the cabinets below the mattress. This is very important also, but I’d like to see some ideas on how to lift the mattress itself to change the sheets, since 3 sides of our mattress are against a wall. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated!

I would assume the mattress is too flimsy to be able to lift without bending.

It’s a very thick double mattress, and not that flimsy, but definitely hard to bend! It is quite heavy. Trying to think of some kind of hydraulic (?) lift mechanism or even a jack to lift it? Still searching…

Quick Zip Sheets

Look into the Quick-Zip sheet system, at quickzip.com. They offer a fitted/bottom sheet that is installed like most but they have a zipper around the edge so you only have to unzip the top part of the fitted sheet with the part that goes under the mattress staying in place. They are a bit pricey but only having to install a fitted sheet once and just changing the top part when needed with a zipper. Much easier on the back. They offer complete sets with zippered fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillows or you can buy separate pieces. They have percale, flannel, and Sateen sheets.

Take a look, it's an interesting system.
