Brake wiring

The wires to the left brake on out 17A got cut or pulled apart on our last trip. I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram. I called ETI; haven't gotten a call back yet.
There are two green wires coming out of the left brake baking plate. Does it matter how they connect? I have a blue wire and a black wire coming over from the right side. There is another, shorter wire that is obviously a ground wire. Thanks

It does not matter which of the wires coming out of the backing plate are connected to the black and blue wires. I used a butt connector which I crimped making sure I caught the bare wire and then I used my heat gun to shrink the connector. I got these from my dexter dealer but they are available at auto parts stores. Pull firmly on the wires after you have crimped them to make sure you got a good crimp. I used the liquid tape as a seal once I used the heat gun but it was messy and I didn’t like it. Back to good 3m Scotch 33 black electrical tape for me from now on.

While the magnet in the electric brake is non polar, ie it doesn't matter which of the green wires coming from the back plate goes to which of the cross over wires, if a ground wire is also connected to either of the cross over wires, it should be connected to the negative wire.

Hi Jon
On the new brakes I installed this spring and on the old 2013 brakes there was no small white wire. Must be more than one set up. I know the new brakes had a different actuator lever set up than the old ones for sure.

make sure you get MARINE butt crimps with shrinkable insulation that has meltable glue inside. and yes, use a hot air gun, NOT a torch to shrink it, as a torch is TOO hot and will char the insulation before its properly shrunk and melted onto the wires.

you usually won't find these at an auto store or the local hardware store. Either a marine supply, or I've been using these noname chinese ones that seem to work just fine...
