Broken E19 front window latch

Attached image shows how our front window latch broke, with the plastic case splitting in the threaded area. We had not tightened it since we got it, and the other latch nut remains tight.

This seems to be a 7/8" deep latch, like this one.

Has anyone else experienced this latch breaking? If so, what did you replace it with?

I would contact the window manufacturer to get a replacement.

Or, try Escape factory, they may have some parts...

Not unusual breakage

As I examined your photo, your breakage is at a typical "stress concentrator" spot at the sharp thread transition. Temperature may have played a part. If normally tightened at 70F, it would be fine. But cold temperatures dramatically shrink plastic....like 13 TIMES MORE than steel. So a cold snap could have snapped your device at a susceptible spot.

Just speculating here, but that's my guess.

I have no advice for a replacement substitute.

Interesting. Our 2020 19' came with metal latches on the front window. Maybe Escape can send you some?

My latch braked once during warranty period. Your best option is to call ETI parts department to order one for perfect match.

Mine also broke! I drove around just using the 1 latch on the drivers side. It was good for 6 months then one day it opened and the front shield flew up. I lost one support arm. I removed the shield and it rides in the back of my truck.

Just had our emergency egress window latch break off at the bottom of the window. It a brand new 5.0 we got 3 weeks ago. We noticed the window flapping in the wind while traveling and the top right side of the window frame bent.

Lippert is covering the damaged window, replacing it under warrentee. They have been very helpful.
