Can a generator run A/C unit

Just wondering if a larger size generator has enough power to run the AC on my 2017 19 foot Escape trailer.

What do you mean by 'Larger Size"? If by Large you mean Dual 2000 Watt Generators then yes they can but you can also run AC off a smaller set up & A/C Soft Start also

Good question. What is necessary to run a 11,000 BTU AC plus a microwave, maybe a coffee maker without having to add a soft start kit. Something other than just having to barely get by. Something around 3000-3500 do it?

We have a 2018 Escape 19 and live at 4500 ft elevation. We camp up to 8000 ft elevation and need A.C. at times. We currently have a 98# Firman 2900/3200 generator. No problem running and restarting our A.C. unit.

At one point we initially bought a Yamaha 2200 watt generator. It could start the A.C. once but could not restart it due to the surge load. That mistake cost us $100s as selling a now used generator does not bring in the same money as new. The soft start kit is $399 and is almost the same cost as a generator!

We finally bought our Firman from Costco for $550, delivered to our store. It is relatively quiet, 56dB. It is a Chinese made inverter generator with US support based in Peoria, Arizona.

We added the EasyStart from Hutch Mountain (https://www.hutchmountain.com) to the AC and are now able to easily start our AC with my Honda eu2200i. Worth every penny when in Death Valley without hookups.
