Can anyone identify this?

Ok this is isn't exactly related to Escape trailers but I'm putting it in the owners helping one another section. And identifying stool is a good skill to have out camping. And if the mods want to they can delete it without any hard feelings on my part.

But we found this pile in our backyard this afternoon!

What kind of animal could have left it? Something that eats a lot of seeds.

Last winter we had what a hunter told us we're bear tracks in the snow in our backyard. So we are a bit nervous now with this little offering.

Well, I have to ask. Was it too hot, was it too cold, or was it just right?
I think bear.
Had similar in our back yard when a black bear was hanging around.

Thank Glenn. We are leaning towards bear stool also. Kinda runny likely due to our rainy day.

My daughter who lives five minutes from our place saw a bear this evening. And she just sent me a picture of a huge pile of bear poop that her friend found on her place. What can I say, we live up here in Silver Valley, Maple Ridge near Golden Ears Park.

So I guess we get bear in the backyard every once in awhile. We just moved up here last December (with our other daughter and her husband) and are still getting used to living up here.

Not sure what it is from, but definitely looks like it has formaldehyde in it and is therefore an illegal dump which will cost more to remove....

Yup, probably bear stool that's been rained on. Just reading an article today about the analyzing of bear stool to see how well they've been able to feed on berries etc. to see how well they're prepared to hibernate.

I wouldn't have any concerns about the bears. I live by a salmon bearing river and bears are a fact of life. Unfortunately I've had one shot outside my house by the conservation folks. Ironic that. I go out with my slingshot and whack them on the butt so they move on so they won't get shot. Most neighbors don't call to report them, they just let them move on back into the forest.

I don't see any bow hunter in there, so it's not grizzly.

If you're referring to the self-centered big white hunter on the news tonight, I'd have cheered for the grizzly

Hi: LarryandLiz... Should be easy to spot the "Who dumped it" cause it's missing a shoe!!!
I thought bear scat was darker... almost black? By the shape of the pile he/she must have a mild case of indigestion!!! Too many "Raspberries". Alf

This is all dependant upon what they are eating. I have been out backpacking when the huckleberries are ripe and plentiful, and have had grizzlies hanging about gorging on them (better than me, eh?), and they leave big hot steamy piles of what appears to be pie filling.

Ok, I think you just took care of any cravings for blueberry pie that I might have ever had.

I would never let that happen, blueberries are my favourite fruit, though huckleberries, being similar, are very close.

We picked a bunch of huckleberries last week on the 6 day canoe trip I did, ate a bunch fresh, and added hordes to our morning pancakes.....oh, so yummy.

I'm no scatologist but it looks like bear to me. He didn't go in the woods cause he could find a clearing, Your yard.
Saw a lot of this when I worked on the Selway years ago. Had the ultimate deal the first year I was out there. Pick enough huckleberries on Forest Service time to make two pies, give them to my supervisors wife at about 5:00 pm. Pick up a warm pie about 7:00 pm. Day after day.
