Can I tow an Escape 19 Trailer with a 2020 Nissan Frontier 4x4

I want to purchase an esape 19 trailer and want to make sure I can safely tow it with a 2020 Nissan Frontier 4x4. I did some calculations and I should be able to tow it. The gvwr is 6012lbs, max tongue load is 638 lbs, gcwr is 11427lbs, max payload capacity is 1378lbs. I substracted the gvwr from the gcwr and I should have 514 lbs to spare. If I calculated wrong could someone tell me if I'm able to safely tow this trailer. I also want to know if anyone has experience with the frontier and how it handles inclines and braking downhill with this trailer. I don't want to ruin the engine or lose control.

You are on the right track.....my V-8 Hemi truck can pull 12,000 lbs but only carry 1300 lbs. Between gas and payload and passengers we are almost "full" most of the time.

I tow my 19 with a 2014 Frontier with no problem.
I did have to beef up the rear suspension to tow without a wdh, but yours being a 4x4 you probably have beefed up suspension.
Perfect tow vehicle for a 19.
No power issues on inclines, engine breaking performs well going down large hills.
Braking reasons is excellent if the trailer brakes are adjusted periodically.

I find using the "tow mode" helps with the vehicle's engine to do some of the braking while in use.....

Thank you. That’s what I hoped for. I want the escape19 but if my truck wasn’t capable I was going to settle for the intech sol horizon, but think you get more bang for the buck either escape and probably better quality.

We've been towing our E19 with our 2017 Frontier 4x4 for a year and a half now and are quite pleased with the combo. We tow utilizing a weight distribution hitch. Do get set up with a good braking system in order to be able to stop fast when you need to.

The Frontier will do fine. Get a WDH, it makes the ride so much more comfortable. When we had a Tacoma and a Escape 17B, if it was more than an hour, we would use the hitch, less than an hour, we didn't bother but it was a bit bumpy.
The Frontier will do fine, I see your in Virginia. The mountains in your area aren't too high. If your heading west, just expect to take your time. If you get west of Denver up above 7500', you'll be dropping into third gear I suspect.

Well, the Sol Horizon looks to be a very well made trailer. With an all aluminum all welded cage frame, it is a 'sticky,' but not all stickies are created equal. I like the look of the interior as well. It's reminiscent of Airstream.

I prefer molded fiberglass as I'm sure most here do. After all it's an Escape Forum. But speaking just in terms of quality, not floor plan or size, the Sol Horizon looks impressive. I've no idea on the prices, but you could do worse.

I do. Although fuel economy drops by about 30%.

With my F150 (ample tow rating), I run out of payload way before tow rating. Realize anything added after the factory comes out of payload. In my case, bed side steps, tow mirrors, bed camper top, spray in bed liner, all come out of payload. Then you have passengers, dog, tongue weight and hitch ball mount.

It’s the dirty little secret on tow ratings. My truck has a 9,900 pound tow rating, I just can’t hook up to it! I run out of payload at around a 5,000 pounds. Now my E19 doesn’t weigh that much, so I am fine.
