Can You Recommend a Removable Adhesive?

Original owner mounted a light-weight (plastic?) mirror on a woodgrain-vinyl wall in our trailer. The adhesive failed over the winter but I liked that it hadn't damaged the vinyl and it peeled off cleanly. I want something similar but don't know what it was.

Can you recommend something similar that can be removed if wanted? The original was a yellow elastomer but not as strong as an auto trim adhesive or a contact adhesive.

Perhaps a silicone? Or are there water-based "low-strength" elastomeric materials that won't attack the woodgrain? It does not need high strength.

Thanks,

Mike

3M Command is a line of products that are easily removed without damage, if you follow the instructions.

I'd second this. We've used it to hang pictures at home. Available at any hardware store.

I 3rd it

I've used adhesive velcro and it has pulled the vinyl film off the walls. Command strips are easily your best bet for this application.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I have used Command products for hanging small items but hadn't thought about it for this mirror. Good idea.

If you're mounting a mirror, you want to place it so that light will fall on the person using the mirror. I have mine on the inside of the bathroom door. Light in the bath and light on cabinet the other side evenly illuminate the face.
The mirror is plexi, light weight and won't break.

Mirrors don’t work very well. Every time I look in one my image ducks.

3M Command Strips

I've used the Command Strips in a fiberglass shower to hang hooks and even a soap holder. They've lasted for years!

This is similar to ours that fell off. How is it mounted?

If you live in a cold climate be sure to purchase the 3M command hooks made for outdoor use and cold weather. Often used to hang holiday decorations the cold weather model will not fail while in winter storage.

I just used double-sided tape. Being plexi, it is really light weight. Been mounted since 2009.

I wasn't aware of such an animal. I'll need to look more closely at the packaging fine print next time.
We do live in cold climes, especially right now.
Thanks.

Yes, moisture/freezing may be why the original adhesive gave up on ours.

Good to know!

Thanks again for all replies,

Mike
