Can't Get End Cap on Power Awning
Backing into our back yard, the mulberry tree swiped our 2019 E21C and knocked the right end cap off the Dometic power awning. Cap looks all right; still has the tabs; awning housing looks fine, too. But, try as I might, I cannot get the cap back on.
Is there a trick to it? What am I missing?

Loppers would do, though hate to take the low branches that will be full of mulberries: wife makes mulberry cobbler of them.

My maternal grandmother had several mulberry trees behind her home on the farm. In the summer we would visit about the time they got ripe. My mom would make pies. They were my dad’s favorite pie. Extremely sweet, seedy and pretty messy when still warm out of the oven. They would melt vanilla ice cream pretty fast.
Catfishing the small creeks in the Midwest, it’s common to find mulberry trees along creeks. When the mulberries get ripe, they fall in the creek. Catfish can be frenzy feeders. So mixing up a bait with mulberries in it will trigger bites resulting in Mr. Catfish laying in the grass grunting in disgust after a spirited tussle. I learned this and other fishing facts many years ago now.

Hard to reach the higher branches. Jane spreads sheets out underneath, and shakes all the branches she can reach. Grandkids help. Mulberries fall on sheets, and everyone collects them.
Mulberries alone are not nearly as tasty as raspberries and blackberries, but add enough sugar and they perk up. I expect your mom added plenty.
Cobbler works as well or better than pies, and can be frozen. Heat it up, and it's great with ice cream, too!
Didn't know that about catfish, but knew nothing about them anyway. Never liked what I have tried.

Tie a piece of twine on the problem branch. Then have your navigator give it a tug to get it out of the way while backing in.
Haven't had Mulberry Cobbler since I was a kid. Good Stuff!

Yes, should have pulled the branch(es) out of the way!
Funny, we lived here for 30 years watching the birds eat the mulberries, before Jane realized they would be good for cobbler.
Now why can't I get that cap back on

What is the brand and model of your awning?
I have some free time this morning and I’ll do a little research to see what turns up.

I once had a cap that wouldn’t go on “not the awning” at some point I realized it needed to be rotated a 1/4 turn. The cap wasn’t actually square it was slightly rectangle in shape.

It's a Dometic 9500E, "Model 231(LL)(CC).003(#)". Weird number; these are the numbers on the Operating Instructions, which I have.

I just looked at the parts diagram for the “Dometic 9500E”. It’s orientation is obvious.

Where'd you find a parts diagram? I want to compare my cap to see if anything is missing.

Got It On!
UPDATE: Extended the awning out a few inches (can't put it out farther, because of the canopy poles), and got the right cap on firmly.
Seems to be a larger gap than I remembered, so something might have gotten askew. Will have to pull trailer out and extend awning all the way (a real pain, as getting it in and out over the front lawn, uphill into the narrow awning is tricky).
Thanks for the suggestions and thoughts.
