Clearance of 21C receiver and bike racks

I need to know the clearance from the ground to the bottom of the receiver at the back of my 21C, which is an hour away in storage. I would be very grateful if someone could save me the drive and hours of searching the forum by having a quick look at theirs. I have the normal axles, not lifted.

The reason I need to know this if you're wondering, is that I am looking for a bike rack that would work there without being too heavy, too expensive, not rv-approved, and not back-ordered until next year. I am down to the Swagman Original 3 bike, but according to e-trailer, this needs 15 inches or more ground clearance to the bottom of the receiver.

I am also considering hitch-mounts, eg the Jack-it, which I saw successfully used by one of our members, and have come across Futura GP and Arvika as well. My hitch is pretty busy with the storage box, propane, and E2 WDH, so I'm concerned about those last two fitting. Does anyone have them?

Mine is 18"........as far as the Jack-E-Up, there should not be any issues as I have used it in the past......

Thank you! Do you put a bike rack on it? If so, which one?

Do you mean the Jack-it hitch bike rack? The Jack-E-Up is a similarly-named removable jack, as I just found out from Google.

I can’t give you an answer (mine is a lifted 19) but using this hitch adapter will give an extra 2” lift for the bike carrier. I got it for the extra distance I got to prevent the bike’s handlebar from touching the spare wheel.

I use an adapter similar to what Effie showed to mount the bike rack on our motorhome, and it does raise the rack... but it also extends it further rearward. I need that extension for handlebar clearance on the motorhome, but it's a bad thing for stability to extend the load further from the axle on a trailer.

Also the hitch extender/adapter probably impacts capacity loads.........

Thanks for all the feedback. That's useful, and some aspects I hadn't considered, especially the stability issue. Having watched that video of a fish-tailing trailer overturning, I am now leaning towards the hitch rack option, if I can get one.

HI- don't have my 21NE yet, but have recently purchased a 1UP 2 bike rack to use on the hitch of the truck and eventually the trailer. Great rack, RV Approved, made in the USA, and available. The free shipping option may have a bit of a wait. I opted to pay the 2 day shipping and had it within the week.

1UP USA (the two bikes version) works great in the back of the Escape or my SUV.
