That is another approach that I had not considered .
I usually trade my truck in right before it needs it first set of new tires and brakes , so maybe I should buy a new trailer instead of buying new trailer tires.
Thanks for the good advice . Now if I can only convince my wife.
If she gets mad , I can tell her it was your idea ! .

I heard a tire hissing as I entered a state park in Oregon once. I made it to our site
And got wood under the axle of the fold down camper so getting the jack under it
Was a lot easier. Kids and Rita went to the beach, I put on the spare and we took the tire to town and got a new one. Tillamook park, nicest place I ever changed a tire.
Layed along side my pickup one night in the Mountains in Idaho. Slowly cranking the jack with a too short handle. Rita in the front seat with her foot on the brake. Squeak. Squeak squeak growl, a coyote had come in to about 15 feet away to examine the squeaking noise. At about 200 lbs at the time I was out of his weight class. But it scared me into gaining weight in case it happened again and a bigger critter came in.

At one time, I was considering a tire pressure monitoring system but didn't go forward. Has anyone tried them on an Escape? It would solve the problem of driving a while on a flat tire without knowing.

From my experience in my truck, there is a definite hum and vibration when you have a flat. Might not know what it is, but it is certainly noticeable. At least it was on a 5.0TA.

I would think the benefit of a TPMS would be to let you know you are losing pressure and about to have a flat.

Several people here have them. Most use the TST system. I have the Dill tpms and really like it. It's more work because sensors are mounted inside the tire but once they are it's a clean install.

Well shoot. Then I'd buy just one tire. When the other three age out, I'd buy four and make this newest tire the spare.

Yes on Tractors 1 recommendation. Used it on last long trip . The same long trip before ,when we came home , didn't know one of the tires had a nail in it. Loved now could see tire pressures the whole time . Too far away with our truck to hear what is going on back there . Pat

Yes, I do. It is the one sold at Camping World and Ibelieve it is called Tire Minder. The only problem is I have to put $16 worth of batteries in the sensors twice a year, but it does work and provides peace of mind.

Extensive discussion of these. Do a search. We chose ours because of the lifetime warantee. Monitor the car and the trailer at one time.

Ours is TST 507 RV . We have for now 4 . Really just want to know what is going on back there . We haven't changed batteries yet . I think they can last 3 years . Pat

Thats the plan. Going tomorrow to get a new one.

We have to be ready to camp if winter decides to stay away for awhile.
