These on Amazon might work. Pretty stout for the application though. No idea if the original rivet holes would line up - you'd probably have to patch.

Better replacement

Found an exact hole pattern match in a powder-coated version from Taiwan. Paint is a lot better and not thin on the corners, where the old one started rusting first rainy winter in Oregon. $9.88 USD each including shipping.

We'll see if it rusts the first year like the Chinese version ETI uses. Drill out the old rivets with a 3/16 inch drill bit.

Got my replacement latches installed. Almost perfect fit - had to move one keeper hole over 1/32 inch. Keeper needs a shorter rivet otherwise the lid won't close. Also, the "flapper" has a shorter threaded section - the original ETI version had about 10 threads below the nut whereas the new part has 2.

Note how much better the powder coated paint definition is vs the sprayed ETI part.

Definitely have to give it a few months but please drop back and let at least me know if they are not rusting. :}

Well, it's been a couple of years now and they're still not rusting!

Hi Charlie. The latches on my Escape 19 have started to rust. I want to replace them with the new ones you used. Question: did you have to rivet the new ones in place or can the be bolted on? Thanks.

Don't know if there is room for bolts - I used rivets just because I had them..........

Storage Box Coating?

Need to do a bit of touch up on the front box; searched the topic yet could not find what Escape used. Anyone know?

Why don't you contact them and find out the exact color and what it is and let everyone know. I'm sure others might find it handy to know.

I just painted my cargo box "ivory bisque" to sort of match it but it's darker than what ETI uses.

Thanks, good to know what the product is.

I'm a little puzzled by their designation as "white". Now I admit that I never paint a room any color but beige and I even struggle with what shade of beige.

I'm surprised that it's called white, especially when compared to the gelcoat lid etc.

But given the cost and the 30 day shelf life it looks like ivory bisque is it for the cargo box.

At first I thought it might be their snow white, yet believe you are right about it being ivory. Wait- there is no ivory on their website. Almond? Gonna call tomorrow

BTW, that isn't rust on the hasps; that is what happened to the finish after applying rust remover. Oh, well hoping the new powder coated ones hold up better in this marine climate.

That's what my wife said, took one look at their color chart and said "almond". What do I know about color. I especially hate being around folks discussing color. Oh yes, there's a hint of green and maybe a touch of grey etc. etc. etc. As I said, I have trouble with beige.

Received the latches from R & P; paint doesn't look to be powder coated and there are a few nicks showing bare metal. Paint kinda thin too. Will have to paint them before installing. I guess for the price ($10 ea.) it isn't too bad.
