Dead Bathroom Vent Fan

After returning with our 19 from Alaska, our Bathroom fan refuses to start. No fuses blown & no voltage between the black & white wires. The light in the bathroom lights normally. What circuit are the fans typically wired to? Any ideas?

Not sure where you tested voltage, but it might be the small thermal fuse that is inline on the wiring taped to the motor. This will burn out if the fan is turned on but is not popped up and opened first.

Hi: ROWDY II... The first thing I did was replace the red plastic "Push on push off" switch... The new one was made of brass, cost a couple of bucks, and that did the trick. The powered vent started working again!!! Alf

I see what everyone has said - but on our 2018 Escape - I looked in the manual and found there was an easy to access fuse up near the fan - it wasn't wired in as is mentioned. I can't remember where - but look in the fan manual. It was easy

Thanks to all!

Thanks for the replies. Found that tiny little dead fuse. Never would have found it from the angle I was looking from. It will be replaced when Amazon delivers.

This Forum is amazing. There is always someone who has had a similar problem, found a repair and is willing to share.

Pray tell, what size is that fuse and what did you order?

Jim: This is what was ordered by another member and worked. I wired through without the fuse. Maybe I should rethink that.

There should be a fuse for that 12v line in the main box, but this seems awfully robust for that fan.

Jim, The fuse taped to the fan motor was blown. I installed the new one & it is working fine now. I will surely remember to turn it off before closing the vent because it was a real pain to work in that extremely tight space. BTW: I don't think the amperage rating is an issue with that fuse, because it is a 99 degree thermal fuse. If the temp exceeds 99 degrees the fuse opens. - Jerry
