Detachable Power Cord
We recently took delivery of our 17b and it has the detachable power cord.
Once the plug is properly seated (inserted and rotated) I cannot seem to get the threaded flange to screw nicely onto the threaded portion of the trailer receptacle. The threads are quite fine and seem to want to cross-threaded--I cannot get it lined up to screw on nicely.
I reckon the flange should be properly tightened to help prevent rain water entry. I suppose I could fashion a bit of a hood out of some inner tube rubber or something but that would a little inelegant.
I am quite adept mechanically so this sort of fastening difficulty is not too common. (I am not infallible, however .) Has anyone else had this issue or able to offer advice.
Thanks.

We wanted to change out our detached cord and purchased " Smart Plug " . It just plugs in and is held in place with the sides that you just squeeze to undo . The lid also comes down and holds in place . So simple and smart . We bought the whole system and also purchased another end to make second cord out of the cord I cut off trailer . We bought the stainless system which is expensive but they also have it in the nylon not much more then other manufacturers . System is also totally waterproof . They were developed for the boating industry but now make for RV's . Watched a fellow change out his on his Airstream . Pat

Not everyone went out to buy an additional ring. Only once in a while do I have a problem and I just back out and keep trying. It's not an issue with me.

Before I purchased the new ring I found a light spray of dry silicone lube on the ring solved getting it to start.
So I'm still using the old ring the new is in one of the benches as a spare.

I believe the second locking ring is a push and turn, not threaded, although it looks like it. Look carefully, there are 3 slots that the ring fits into, the turn is only a small amount.

The "Smart Plug "originally for boats was made because they sometimes move around and the connection if not secured was starting fires on their boats . So if you use your plug system , make sure it is secure . When you are hooked up it is your trailer's life blood and you can't just assume it is good enough . It is 120 . Pat

A third, my brother the fourth, and so on...... I just could not get the threads to take, no matter how I held my tongue. All is good now.

If you want to fiddle with it, I second the recommendation of the silicone spray. Makes it alot easier to get started. Otherwise, I second the suggestion of the locking ring. That way, it uses the slots and not the threads. Only a slight turn to lock it in place. My detachable power cord is a Furrion, which I installed aftermarket. It has fine threads too, but they seem to work better than the stock one.

I'm in Karen's camp! It took a little patience the first couple times, but now the threads seem to understand what I expect of them, and they do their part just fine. But it's nice to know there are options out there if we choose.....

Yes I have a similar issue on our 5 TA. At first I thought it was broken. However it gets better with practise. Just go slow and thread it carefully.
