Dexter Axle capacity rating

Our 2019 19' has two axles with this on the sticker:
Dexter Model 7024860
HF: 72.00
OB: 57.00
SA: 22DT
Capacity: 3500 lbs.

The each axle has a label, and this label has a serial number. This serial number is the same on BOTH axles.

Does this mean that individually the capacity is 3500 and total 7000, OR does this means combined the capacity is 3500?

73/gus

Each axle would be 3500 pound capacity however, a torsion axle has built in suspension (rubber rods that can soften or reduce the capacity if it was ordered from the factory that way.

Total capacity of the axles is 7000 lbs - but the frame is not built to handle that much weight. The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is what you need to go by. The total weight of your fully loaded trailer can’t exceed the listed GVWR.

True. Earlier 19's had lower ratings of this type, but they're apparently just the standard 3500 pounds now.

When the rating is lower, the sticker shows it. It doesn't matter to trailer loading anyway, because even the lower-rated suspensions (axles) had - as they should - more total capacity than allowed by the GVWR.

If you're curious, or you want the specs for a possible future axle replacement, the rest of the values are:
  • HF: 72.00" from hub face to hub face
  • OB: 57.00" between the mounting brackets, which are outboard of the reference mounting faces
  • SA: 22 degree down start (unloaded) angle of the arms
