Dexter info sheet?

A member got this info sheet from dexter attached. You get all your seal and bearing numbers from it. Anyone know who to contact for one? I tried email and fax with no luck. Thanks in advance

You will need to ask for a Axle SN/LN Configuration sheet.


You will have to have the serial number of your axle. It is on the axle as either a sticker or actually stamped into the tube.

Bummer, automated phone tree with only 2 options. I tried both, no luck. One option said i could leave a message then just went back around to same first recording with 2 options and no way to leave a message, i tried this twice. Tried the other option and tried just saying customer service to recording, no luck. Also tried just staying on the line and that didn't work either, said no one was available. No response on phone, fax or email, odd.

Have ordered these from Amazon numerous times and the #'s are correct for a Dexter #10 3500# axle. Like others here I have ordered Timken that were made in USA. I prefer the Lippert double lip 10-pack for seals. Never had one leak.

You have two Dexter #10 Torflex axles.

You have Dexter #10 axles AKA 3500 lb axles but Escape de-rated to them to 2500 lbs. on earlier E-21's for a softer ride and to give the trailer a 5k lb. rating. Get the serial numbers from the rear center of your axle beams and call Dexter and they will tell you exactly what you have installed on your trailer.

So My question is somewhat related.
Changed my bearings on my Escape 13 today. Never been serviced since I took delivery in April 2013. The bearings and the races were in good shape, no discolouration, no nicks no problems. The bearings were a little on the sloppy side, so I decided to change them. Got the bearings from an RV dealer in town, by cross referencing the part number, packed them myself, replaced the seal as well.
When I went to adjust the brakes, I noticed there was a small gap between the dust shield and the brake drum. I could see the adjuster wheel through this gap.
Now I don't know if I was just super vigilant as I just changed the bearings, or if this gap was always there.
I'm pulling one wheel off tomorrow to check the actual shape of the inside of the new bearing, to see if it matches the old one, as this is probably the only reason that the drum wouldn't go further onto the axle.
Any suggestions, or am I just persnickety.
It may have been the same all these years, and I've just not noticed it.

That your adjuster your looking at . That were you adjust your brakes pads and there should be a removable rubber plug in the hole . You do know how to adjust Brakes ??

A common complaint is that Dexter brakes don't come with rubber plugs for the backing plates. Had to buy some, yet when replacing brakes recently the Redline brakes had the plugs. Seems weird Dexter doesn't include them.

I could see the adjuster, not only from the adjusting hole, but also between the drum and the dust shield.

Did you press/drive the inner bearing cup/race completely in to the stop? If the cup/race is not seated it will cause the hub to stick out from the brake baker plate.

There is some space between the brake drum and the backing plate, which I think is what you are calling the dust shield. How much space is normal? can't say.

You torqued then backed off the spindle nut, right? If you did I'd think you're okay.

Backing plate, yes, I did incorrectly refer to it as a dust shield.
Going to revisit this today, will update after. Also going to attempt to get my axle serial number while the trailer is up. Thinking of updating the Brake system to an auto adjust system.

Torqued castle nut to 50lbs, backed off a flat and nothing on the position of the hub to backing plate changed.
Took it for a nice long drive, both local and highway, hubs are not hot, brakes worked just fine. Jacked it up again and no free play in the wheels.
So I assume that I've just not noticed this space between the backing plate and the brake drum before.

So I know this is an older thread but the info I am requesting is the same. I want to do the service on my brakes and drums but I'm having trouble finding parts or even the info on them. My trailer is a 2013 21C. From what I'm seeing ETI is now using a 3500lb. axle, #10. The stickers on my axles say that mine are 3000lb 10H. All of the info that I have been able to find on a 3000lb axle shows that the brake parts are for a 10 x1 1/2 unit and that they are extremely hard to get. I am assuming too that the drum will be different. I have put in a request to Dexter for an Axle SN/LN Configuration sheet as suggested earlier in the thread and have also contacted ETI and left multiple voice messages but have yet to get a return call. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know what "10H" would indicate, distinct from "10"; the catalog shows a light-duty 10L (with the 10"x1½" brakes), and a 10F, but not a 10H. The 10F is a higher-capacity variant, with the same nominal brake size (10"x2¼") but different part numbers for both the drum and the brake assembly.

Escape Torflex assemblies with lower-than-3500lb ratings have, in the past, had the same hub and 10"x2¼" brake hardware as the regular 3500 pound assemblies; the capacity difference is just due to different length of rubber rods as springs (lower capacity is shorter rubber and therefore softer springing).
