Dometic 2510.2 on third thermostat

Good Afternoon

I have Dometic 2510.2 in Escape 19. It is needs a third replacement thermostat, as continuously cools (or freezes!!) on electric. [works perfectly fine on propane].

I am looking for some input on the root cause of the failures. It appears that contacts arc and "weld" closed on the 110V side. Is this just bad replacement parts or is there something else I should look at possibly upstream.

Thanks in advance for any input
Shannon

That's one strange thermostat.

Dave's Place - Dometic Manual Refrigerator Controls

Between the thermostat and the 120v heating element is only the thermostat points. Since you are on your third thermostat, either you are buying substandard thermostats or your 120v heating element is pulling too many amps, ie. the heating element may be somewhat shorted internally.

If you have access to a clamp-on amp meter, you might want to find out what the amp draw to the heating element is running as it is doubtful that three thermostats were bad in a row. If the amps are higher than normal, time for a new heating element.

Yes definitely will check heating element amp draw. I also should more clear that this is the third including the original. And that the last two in the past 4 years.
