Dometic 3 Burner stove and oven recall

We picked up our trailer in January 2021. It included a Dometic 3 burner stove and oven model R1731. These stove/oven's were backordered and had delayed us from receiving our trailer. We had been scheduled to receive it in November 2020.

On our last camping trip we started smelling gas. The unit is leaking gas all the time so we have to turn off the gas at the tanks. Upon researching it we discovered that the stove/oven have a national recall. We had not been and still have not been notified by Escape that our stove/oven had been recalled.

I have found a local Dometic authorized dealer and they can order the needed part kit and install it. The only problem is the part kit is backordered and may not be available until Spring. Yikes!
We start a 6 month camping trip in January. We need gas for the frig and furnace. And we need to cook of course.

So options... first we need to disconnect the gas line to the stove and cap it off. I don't know much about gas connections but it doesn't sound to hard. Of course we can use a hot plate when we have electricity and we have a microwave again when we have electricity. We have a Campchief cook stove that we use outdoors with a propane canister, so that works. The other thing I was thinking is that we could buy the Campchief Ranger ll and set it on top of the Dometic and see if we could figure out how to connect it to the gas line to the Domectic. I understand that I need to remove the regulator in the Ranger ll.

Sorry about the rambling... I'm just trying to figure this out.

Thanks for an ear.

It’s very concerning to me that with an official recall Escape didn’t notify their customers. I’m just hoping somehow you where missed.

Can anyone tell me how to tell if I have the recalled model? Can't seem to be able to find the model number on it anywhere.

You have to lift up the top of the stove. It is under the stove. Requires some screw removal

IF you're trailer is a 2017, it does NOT apply to you.

Thanks. Ours is a 2018, so it looks we're not affected.

You may want to change your profile. It says 2017 5.0TA.

Thanks. I just checked the build sheet and it does state "Model 2018 5.0TA," so I updated my profile

We also had our trailer completion delayed from Nov. 2020 to Jan. 2021 while waiting for the oven. We were told at the time that since our oven was manufactured after Oct. 31, 2020 we were not included in the recall.
So far our oven has worked as it should except for an igniter issue on the stove top.
I hope you can get the needed repairs made before your trip.

Here is a copy of the email sent out by Escape at the time of the recall:

We just received a recall notice. One year after the recall was announced.
