This said, I have adjusted a couple a of these awnings including on needing repair. Reace thought me the basics.

thx JIm that is a better manual than i got from Escape. If i take it to a authorized dealer its on my dime. No warranty on a adjustment. Mind you i took delivery with problem, 2 months ago.

I am not sure what time of adjustment you need to do, but I found the manual next to useless.
Here is what I had to do to get my awning power closed.

i did see Reaces video. My awning goes out and retracts great. As soon as it comes out of cassette, you can see the sag to the rear of the trailer. When it is completely extended it is really bad. I'm not a habitual complainer, this is unacceptable for a new trailer. Escape referred me to page 10 of manual. I worked in a auto plant for 31 yrs, i'm not afraid of an allen wrench. What happens if i strip a set screw ? We've all read the Dometic quality issues. I can't blame Dometic if the trailer was or wasn't final inspected by Escape.

Dometic 9500e issue

Hi,

I’ve been struggling with my awning. I only bought the trailer about a month ago (used 2016 17A). The awning worked great before the first trip. We arrived at the first campsite and the awning would not extend. I didn’t mess with it too much because we were only there for one night. At the next stop it fully extended but wouldn’t retract. I left it like that for 3 days because we needed the shade and eventually realized I could get it to retract by activating the wind sensor. Now when I follow the motor reset instructions in the manual, it comes out about 18” and then nothing (in the video with Reece the awning jogs after holding the reset button on the remote - this doesn’t happen). I’ve replaced the battery in the remote (3 button). Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

Hello Ty,

Won't help you, but my 21NE came with a serious sag in the 9500E. After playing email tag with Dustin at ETI. I finally took it to a camper shop in Walcott Ia, Everything was tight, but out of adjustment. Charged me 28 bucks to adjust, Could not believe low charge. Anyway i would have to question ETI final inspection. Hope it works out for you.

Dometic 9500E power awning

The awning was out in the rain at the Fort Casey rally. I used the controller to retract part way to get the water off. Then retracted it fully. Was unable to open it the next morning. Escape said replace the battery. Done. Not working. Said to reset controller. Supposed to have two beeps after 10 seconds of power off but only one beep. Manual says that is to reset vibration.
Anyone have this problem?

Sorry but I have to ask…is the main awning power switch beside the door on? Some in the past have forgot about that switch as well.

Also a reminder for those with the power awning that the serial number is inside the awning and requires it to extend before you can see it. Good idea to record this number that the warranty people need before it will not open.

Sorry to be negative but we wish we would have chosen the manual, instead. Nothing but problems, thus far.

Bad decision

Similar problem. Ours has been awful. Wish we would have chosen the manual. We fell for the “bling.” We have an appointment to have it repaired, next month.
Ours failed on a two week trip and we ended up retracting it manually and securing it with electrical wiring to get it home.

Poor Decision

Same here. Problems from the start. We have a 2020 5.0. We regret choosing the Dometic Power Awning, now.

Sorry to hear about awning, ours had a major sag when fully extended. I was afraid to mess with a brand new awning. Anyway our nearest camper/repair place had her done in 15 minutes, 28 dollar job.I was a happy camper. Hope it works out for you.

In 2018 we did not have a choice as the power awning was the only offering. It does have its good points and may have had no problems.
However even if it was the same cost as the manual I would not get the power awning again. I don’t like the power consumption and not being able to tilt it down to clean it, check it for debris before rolling up and to allow rain to better shed off.

I still haven’t fixed mine, when you go through the remote reset it still comes out 18” but then nothing happens or works and it eventually just retracts on its own. I haven’t been able to find a place to repair it. I did buy a replacement remote and control box. I guess it’s a problem for the Spring now.
