I would want a fully charged battery when arriving at camp, so I would cool on AC and then switch to propane for the road and camp.
I ordered my trailer with two-way, AC/Propane, fridge because DC is of such limited use.

Although using propane for appliances in tunnels is a no-no, I have yet to see a pull out before a tunnel that could be used by a truck/car and trailer to pull off in time to turn off the propane. Tunnel signage does not give one enough notice to comply with the rule (at least in the Fraser Canyon).

I don't think the regulation applies to those tunnels. It's long tunnels in heavily populated areas.

I have only seen one tunnel so far, in Zion NP, where I had to turn off the propane. They allow space and time to do it. Every last ferry, and I have been on quite a few, mandates that propane be turned off. Always very willing to comply.

Thank you! We are on the road and have the fridge set to DC while the camper is plugged into the car. Is this ok? We will be driving all day (8-10 hrs). Thanks

I do not think you will be happy with the cooling while using 12v power source, propane is your best source of energy.

Thanks. I might not feel comfortable with propane on while driving. I was mostly wondering if it could drain the battery or our car battery. Both are new.

See this thread at FGRV. Lots of opinions.
I'm comfortable driving with fridge on propane.

So we tried that for the first 5 hours of towing. The trailer battery was nearly discharged. As a new owner and confused, I called Tammy (this was 2017). She recommended that I use propane for the refrigerator cooling and not DC. Battery charged fine after changing to propane.

As a side point, I noted on a recent video, Karl was reviewing 3-way refrigerator operation. In doing so, he referred to the "DC" selection as "dead car".

2 cents

My fridge draws about 14 amps when on 12V. That's a lot.

I’ve used 12volt on a three hour drive and it was fine , longer than that ?

The longer you drive the lower your battery will be depending on your tow vehicle. Most newer vehicles have a very thin charge wire that can’t keep up with the draw of the fridge.

Which is why you would have #10 wire used for the 7-pin to the trailer. It's still a bad idea to run the fridge on 12V DC.

I'm also comfortable driving with the fridge running, and been so for over 30 years.

However, "My father smoked cigarettes all his life and never died of cancer."

Enjoy,
