exterior furnace access door E19

I want to examine the sail switch ,however I am unable to remove the white access panel that covers the furnace. I have removed the four screws as seen in the ETI help videos but the panel will not come off. Is there another step I am missing?

Did you try removing the exhaust vent from the panel? Mine has a panel mounting screw hidden under the exhaust vent cover.

The exhaust tube you can see from the outside of the panel slides into a slightly larger (or is it smaller) exhaust tube and dirt and rust can make it hard to pull the panel out. you may need to wiggle and twist some to free them up. just don't use too much force and bend the chrome part. Also the gasket sticks to the panel so use your fingers to pry away from the gasket. Once it's free, you can wiggle the exhaust tube out.

I suspected that the tubes have stuck themselves together somehow, I am able to get the white panel away from the body , I guess it will take some wiggling , As you mentioned I do not want to use too much force and damage things.

Mine was tight too, but did release. It went back together easily.

One needs to take a plastic putty knife n gently slide it in between the cover n the escape wall. Then gently work around the cover until it pulls free. Then while pulling the cover, turn back n forth till it comes off

as it turned out there seemed to be some corrosion locking the inner tube to the outer, I used some needle nose vise grips to gently persuade the exhaust tube and it came out
