Flying Saucers

First trip of the season, we arrived at our destination after a few hours driving to find the microwave turntable glass plate shattered on the floor, and the microwave door shut. Yes, it was checked before we left. This is our eighth season with our 19, never had a problem like this. The roads were good, no major bumpiness or twistiness. I'm blaming it on aliens. Any other ideas?

Bruce

Aliens maybe, but I think it was likely ghosts, Bruce.

Call me a paranormal skeptic, but I'm going with "the microwave door wasn't latched all the way, the turntable fell out in a turn, and the door was forced shut when you turned the other way."

I know, me of little faith.

Sounds more like Gremlins, but at least now you know to check goodwill for a replacement.

Any chance someone washed it and left it on the counter?

we travel with the Microwave Plate in the sock drawer because the aliens won't think of looking for it there. I heard they like to drive it around and observe "the earthquake going down the road".

Debbie saved the styrofoam mold from the original packaging and the plate rides well in the micro. Of course, we must remember to check for gremlins prior to departure.......

Gremlins love to slip in the mouse hole. First step to Gremlin prevention is a removable power cord.
Once you get them in a trailer, they're a booger to get rid of.

This happens to RVs all the time. Aliens use the microwave plate as a pattern for their crop circles. They use the microwave energy amplify it, ionize it, then change the frequency to form dark energy. They beam the modified microwave energy to a nearby field to produce crop circles using the plate. Most plates can absorb vast amounts of energy and can be used to form the crop circle pattern. If there are any flaws in the plate during manufacturing it will will go into an interdimentional state and pass through the microwave door. This is probably happened and it fell and broke.
The government released a warning for anyone traveling in an RVs with a microwave through farmland to wear a tinfoil hat. This is for the protection of all passengers in the TV. Extreme exposure to the modified microwave without the tinfoil hat can lead to wanting to buy a stick and tin RV. Other symptoms include wanting to buy a 15 meters long (40ft) 3 axle 5th wheel RV to tow with a Smart car or wanting to stay in hotel rooms only and watch cable TV all day.
Anyone showing symptoms should immediately be placed next to a campfire and given lots of s'mores.

We also kept the styrofoam and store the plate in it in one of the skinny lower cabinets. Had a flying saucer in our last trailer, the plate hit the stove top on the way to the floor putting in a nice dent in it. At the time the replacement cost near as much as a new MW. Making sure the MW door is closed completely is on Deb's mental preflight list.

Of course, unlike you, we went down a very bumpy road.

I knew there was a good reason for not getting the microwave.
