Forest fire ash on trailer.
Advice needed regarding Forest fire ash on trailer. Woke up this morning to a fine layer of ash all over everything. I'm thinking I should wait until a clear day before washing it off the trailer. My concern is that if I wash it off and more falls on the wet surface, the wet Ash could be more harmful to the finish then the dry Ash that is currently on the trailer.
Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated.

Wood ash will etch automotive paint. Right now, I'm waiting until this stuff stops or I see the humidity rising where I know moisture (dew) will be in the air. I know Dave&Kathie are out using a leaf blower to blow off their trailer. If Ten Forward was at home, I might do the same. I have enough anxiety right now without worrying about the finish on my trailer....

A leaf blower is a great idea! Thanks Donna! I hope the stresses in your life blow away with the smoke soon. 🙂

Our So. Calif. experience: We use a duster or blower to remove ash. After the fire is out, AND, after the winds have finished their redistribution of ash, Then we wash.

I'm planning on using the leaf blower tomorrow morning since I still have ash falling here this afternoon.
Last night, when I took the dogs out, I could see smoke in the flashlight beam and when I turned the flashlight to the sky it looked like a light snow was falling.

Read an article earlier today that says you should hose off your vehicles before you wash. Otherwise the scrubbing motion will be like sandpaper on the finish. And it should be removed before it rains.
Oh joy.

More smoke than ash in the air at our place this evening. Here's a picture of our sunset I just took with my iPhone.

Yes. On TV news they had an auto detailer saying you should rinse it a strong stream of water ASAP.
