Fresh tank support bracket loose?

Just picked up our new 5.0 yesterday in Chilliwack, loving it so far. Filled the fresh water tank, then noticed that the support bracket on the driver’s side is hardly attached, the nuts are barely on the bolts.

I have emptied the tank, thinking that I can just tighten up both bolts - but want to be sure that I am not making things worse. I have a query into Escape, but won’t hear back now until after the weekend.

It would appear to me that the closest bolt needs to be tightened up, similar to the other one in the picture ....

It looks to me that it is tightened to the point that it's starting to bend the bracket and the lock nut is in fact well seated on the bolt. I would think you should be able to tell if the bracket is loose?

I'd be curious to see what the other side of the tank looks like - if it's the same thing in reverse.

I would use a longer bolt, nylock nut and washers to fill the space between the brackets.

2 cents

So I checked, both bolts for the bracket on the passenger side of the tank are fully seated.

The front and back bolts on the driver side of the tank both look like the one pictured. The brackets seem tight in both sides. It just looks a bit wonky to me, like they used the wrong bracket on the driver side.

I will see what Escape says, was just a bit leery to have a full tank of water resting on the bracket. Thanks to all who responded.

The bottom of the tank is sloped to fully drain, that’s why there is a gap on the driver side bracket. We just picked up our new 21C and I noticed that. I did put flat washers on all bolts for both fresh and grey tanks, I don’t like the way the bolt head looks like it will pull through the slotted bracket.

Thanks for that info! I like the idea of adding flat washers.

Good to hear that despite the look, it is in fact designed to be installed that way.
