The design of the E19 tank / plumbing really helps to almost completely empty the black tank.

The benefits of making blueberry pie far outweigh any inconvenience from grey tank odors

I think the issue with those flushers is using a water hose for sewer issues. Not sure I want to mix my hoses like that....

We rinse our black tank after each trip using this combo. It's quick, easy, and cleans remarkably well.

I do use a wand from time to time, poked through a large plastic bottle to prevent a face wash. A wipes bottle holds the toilet trap open. I don't seem to accomplish much.

Agreed

Most use a dedicated hose for such, Camco markets a bright orange one for that use.

A good back flow preventer is a must as well for that hose connection.

My old trailer had a straight shot (and a single black/gray tank) from the valve to the bottom side of the tank. The clear valve fitting adapter with a hose powered flush jet worked pretty good though it needed about 3 fills / flushes.

I also kept a spray bottle of a mild bleach solution in my black tank supplies box.

Personally I don’t like leaving the city water hose turned on as I don’t trust the plumbing that Escape did. We fill the tank and use the pump…turning it off if we go for a walk. I don’t want to return to our trailer and find that it is now a bathtub. I know that most people do keep the city water energized without any problems…but everyone has to do what they are comfortable with.

I try to remember to do the same if both of us will be gone, but normally one stays with the dogs......

Another reason to keep the valves closed with full hookups until ready to flush is sewer gases. The toilet and plumbing in an Escape is not trapped like a house. Depending on the sanitary piping arrangement in the campground gases can come up into your tanks. This combined with the negative pressure created from a bath fan and/or MaxxFan is not pleasant. This happened to me in a Hershey PA campground. Granted we were at the top of a very steep hill so that may have contributed to the issue.

So don't mix them. I carry a utility hose for use with the flusher in my motorhome, and that hose is never used for potable water; that's a common solution.

I have a white potable water hose and an old green garden hose for utilities. I screw the male end into the female end to keep critters and debris out of the hose.

I can't believe that Jon's blueberry pie, with it's Josuha tree pastry, had any bad effects.

In fact it was so good and went so fast that I lobbied to be a judge at the next Q'site rally. Best job perk that I ever had.

Hope I get to sample another pie Jon. Border's open, so maybe next year.

Ron

I also hope you get a chance. The next one will be at the unorganized gathering at Townsend, TN in April, and the Spring Fling in New Hampshire in May, but I probably be making one at the Algonac rally in MI in September as well as the Niagara Wine Escape in Niagara Falls, Ontario the week after. You don'e even need to cross the border for the Niagara Falls rally, just most of Canada!

Before using the black tank I add two gallons of water. Especially necessary having a 21 with the long sewer pipe. The water fills that pipe and accumulates in the bottom of the black tank. Without the water the solid waste collects directly below toilet bowel and will not flow out during the dump process. After struggling to remove the poop pile the effort to add the water is minuscule.

Important point ...........required (valves shut unless draining tanks) by some campgrounds even.
