Furnace issues?

With the collective knowledge of the forum I will ask here first....

Since new the furnace in our June 21 delivered Escape has had, what I consider, a different heat cycle than other furnaces we have had.
I followed it close this last week during the colder weather.

Background: Furnace off, no heat overnight, about 40f inside in the AM.
Furnace turned on, thermostat set for 67f, so about a 30 degree rise called for.

Furnace cycle:
Thermostat call for heat
Blowers start
Gas valve opens, furnace lights. after about 5 minutes, interior temp not met yet,
flame shuts off, (gas valve shuts off), fans continue to run, gas valve again opens and furnace lights.
The cycle continues until thermostat setting has been reached.

Has anyone else noted this? could it be an efficiency gain to not run the flame full time, or is it an issue with overtemp of the heat exchanger, or overtemp switch?

Propane pressure has been set to 11 with furnace, stove, and refrigerator on.
In and out vents are not obstructed in any way that I can see

Thanks for any input or suggestions
Tom

So rather than running continuously it cycles on and off until the set point is reached?

The furnace has an automatically resetting high limit switch . When the switch sees too high of temps it will shut down the burner but the fan will continue to run until the plenum temperature drops . When the high limit cools it will reset and the furnace will start its’ cycle if the Tstat is calling .
Possible Causes
1) High propane pressure
2) Defective or wrong High Limit
3) Furnace intake / exhaust restricted
4) Furnace output blocked or restricted

I'd definitely order a new high temp switch and replace it when you have time. They're cheap.

Tom I believe that the furnace is operating normally, I’m on my second furnace and both operate as you have indicated. I’ve also had a chance to check out friends furnaces while camping, they also operate in this mode.

1) 10.5 in water pressure with appliances on
2) possible and suspect
3) all clear
4) clear

Probably will, just in case

This is what I was hoping for, someone has seen this more than once. I may call Dometic support to check with them also

Just for reference we just completed a camping trip in cold temperatures -4C (24F), we left our furnace set at 18C (64F) during the day and night and turned it up to 21C (70F) in the morning.
Our furnace did not cycle as you discribed most likely because of our small temperature difference. The propane use seamed minimal over the 5 days we dry camped, with cooking, fridge and hot water on all the time as well as the furnace we didn’t even use one 20lb tank of propane. Hope this helps.
