I have a binder with plastic sleeves that contain every instruction manual that came with the trailer and for everything I've added or replaced. I photographed the spec sheet in the closet and labels on the trailer.
I also keep a log that helps me keep track of maintenance, like when the battery was replaced.

Dometic™ Atwood 33081 OEM RV Furnace Air Flow Sail Switch - AFS Series

Dometic™ Atwood 33082 Furnace Sail Switch With Bracket Upgrade Kit
MasterRVTech provided some good info I'm just not sure that 33082 is a correct part number. It does not list it for "AFS series" models (now DFS) which is what Escape uses. Which one you need all depends on the serial number of the furnace. The 33081 is listed for all furnaces with serial number AFTER 72498929 and 31093 is listed for furnaces with serial number BEFORE 72498929. If there is any uncertainty it is best to check with Dometic.

For background info:
The original 33063 sail switch was discontinued and this page points to the 33081 and 31093 I mention above as replacements for the AFS series depending on serial number. In the case of the 31093 you can see from the pictures the differences in the paddle design.

Where does one find the serial number of the furnace? I have a 2018 Escape 19, luckily one of the first ones with the exterior hatch door. I haven't had a problem, yet but want to have the replacement on hand.

I’ve started cleaning ours about every three months of operation. It has always stopped working when it was pouring down rain or light snow. It’s such a quick job when the weather is good. We were in Great Falls Montana 28 degrees & light snow 2 years ago when it failed last. Have a spare as well.

I just went and took a picture of ours, but the serial # is hard to read the upper number. It looks like 82000727, luckily the number is also below the barcode as it looks like it is actually 82098727. Model number DFSAD12131.

I'm not sure which switch would be the right one. The link by Centex doesn't list DFSAD series. I guess I will try contacting Dometic.

Here's an interesting explanation of what the letters and numbers in the furnace model stand for. This is from a previous Atwood manual, now that Atwood is owned by Dometic the first letter "A" has become a "D"

I have the same model furnace. Here's a link to the Dometic parts list for this model. It shows 33082 as the part number for the sail switch kit.
https://www.edometic.com/ALLUSR/sp.n...y=C35M98A-NNMU

If that link doesn't function, try going to this link for the model list for "small furnaces" which includes the model you have. Then click on the model number to open the parts list.

Good luck!

Lawrence

Thanks Lawrence A. I stand corrected on the above info with apologies to RVMasterTech. If one searches the Dometic website and clicks on the "DFS" models it does indicate 33082 as a correct part number. You have to scroll down way past the original outdated sail switch part number (33063). So the proper sail switch seems to depend on serial number and whether it is an "AF" (Atwood) or "DF" (Dometic).

Just got off the phone with Dometic after 1.5 hours on hold. Gave them my model and serial number of the furnace and they said there is not a redesigned sail switch for this model. Not impressed at all with Dometic support.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the information. Our furnace has worked fine so far but I want to have a sail switch on hand for when it doesn't.

I plan to pull the original switch when I get the new one and if it is a redesign I'll put it in and keep the original for a spare.

Thanks again, Dan

I just ordered the Dometic/Atwood 33082 Furnace Sail Switch With Bracket Upgrade Kit from Panther RV and with the least expensive shipping USPS first class it was $32.48

The redesign happened over two years ago. After cleaning our sail switch 5 or 6 times we purchased a new switch two years ago. Well over 250 nights and have yet to have the new sail switch fail on us. They can only recommend on the information they have on their computer and a two year old change might not be considered a redesign.

Enjoy,

Perry
