We will travel with one unit during the Hotter/Summer months when A/C is required.
I also added the propane conversion kit from Century Fuel as it gives the option to not have to carry a gas can around.

Good to hear. Ours is the duel fuel model so fingers crossed it will work! -Bea

We have a 21 “Classic” and I have tried to run the ac with a 2000 and a 2200 Honda and it was a no go with both. I did the little plug mod with the ground and common so that was not the problem. Quite frustrating as I do not want a bigger generator..

Thumper, I have not received my trailer yet. Should be in the next few weeks. I will test the AC then.
The Honda was able to run my Casita's AC even at altitude. We had installed a soft start on the AC.
We'll see if the Honda will run the AC on the new 21. I have the Generator bonding plug.
I will post my results.

Generator for a 21 classic

We have a 2015 5.0TA and the Honda 2200 runs the AC no problem and that’s with the charger still online.

For those interested in running a propane generator, I just tested my Sportsman dual fuel 2200 / 1800 watt generator, running on propane at 93°F and at 260' above sea level. Started & ran the 21's AC fine. How it will do at altitude is a question - the specs say it is designed to run below 3000'. I will say it is the hardest starting generator I've ever owned. I don't know how it does on gasoline, but it takes many pulls on propane.

In any case, I now need to decide if I want to carry a generator at all, carry a 900 watt propane only generator that only recharges my batteries & weighs 25 pounds, or the Sportsman that weighs 46 pounds, but may run the AC. Since it still looks like the only camping I'm going to be doing for at least the early summer is in my driveway, it really doesn't matter.

I'm guessing the sound of the A/C drowns out the generator. Or does it?

Actually, it does, but I dislike both. So far the only generator I've run is the 15K back up for my house & the trailer one to exercise it.

Like you, I had a Casita and the 2000 ran it’s AC fine and at higher elevations on Colorado trips.

I to am not a big fan of using a generator when camping. I have used it in the past only when I absolutely needed to. The honda is "fairly" quiet. Can't hear it from the inside when the AC is running, on the Casita. But still audible if on the outside.
I am very mindful of my surroundings. We have done a lot of N.P. camping as well as remote camping.
I hope the 2000i will work when needed. If not, plan B.

Interesting as I have a 2014 - 21 and my old Honda 2000 runs the A/C just fine - without a soft start mod.

You may have to turn off the converter and any other 120v appliance operating, like the refrigerator and test to see if it will operate just the air conditioning.

I have the Yamaha 2400 and it runs the A/C with no problems. The Honda 2200 "should" be able to run an A/C but only under optimal conditions - get up in altitude or temps around a 100 and then the problems start.

The Yamaha with the LoPro lockdown mount welded to a 2" solid receiver bar weighs about 120 lbs. Yes, the Yamaha is heaver but that extra power it has over the Honda makes a difference. The generator is mounted to the rear receiver so I don't have to move it when traveling - the only time I pick it up is at home when I mount it and I use a floor jack then.
