guess I need new Dometic touch thermostate?

I have 2018 Escape 21 with AC option, AC has always worked well, had lots of issues with furnance, but that's another topic, another time. I used to run AC on low fan, because I like the background noise, but recently started running it on auto, so fan and compressor shuts down when set temp is reached inside trailer. was working well until I notice it was cycling on and off too often and not starting the compressor when the trailer inside temp got close to the temp setting for the thermotat. then a few days later, I woke up hot, the thermostate was set 78 F, and trailer was maybe 88 F. being in West TX with 100 plus days, and hot nights I was freaking out... I spent approx 2 hours trying different settings on the thermostat and finally figured out the auto setting was faulty, but the low fan setting apparently still worked well.

maybe few in number, but I actually like the Dometic Touch Thermostat, works great for me.
think will order another Dometic thermostat, the same one, install it, and use the other for a backup spare.

hope I don't find out it's not the thermostat, but compressor and fan seem to still work well, so must be a faulty thermostat? any comments welcomed. cheers
