They are a security or tamper proof design used mainly in appliances and electronics.
You can buy the bits for them online or at most good tool stores Jim.

Well I took it apart and reassembled, it still shuts off, ordered a new one and will trash this one. It is close to 30 years old, so I'm not too disappointed.

another movie recommendation with (spoiler alert) happy ending. Andromeda Strain, 1971. Ye gods, almost 50 years ago.

"The Andromeda Strain was one of the first films to use advanced computerized photographic visual effects, with work by Douglas Trumbull, who had pioneered effects for 2001: A Space Odyssey, along with James Shourt and Albert Whitlock who worked on The Birds".

I remember the book. It was a page turner. Michael Creighton also wrote Jurassic Park. Watch out for what you wish for, eh?

Potato rolls, the bane of thin people, makes everything taste better. While packing for one of our cross country excursions we pack 8 sandwiches for our between meal snacks, tuna or egg or ham salad on potato rolls. Helps to keep me awake while driving those 18 hour days.....

Anyone ever seen these before, foreign made of course...?
I have a kit full of weird bits for things like that. there's a lot of different sorts of safety screws like that.

Screws

Hi Jim
Those are tamper resistant screws. Meaning people who aren’t qualified usually make things worse if they take things apart secured with these screws. Or if you are qualified you usually have a complete kit to remove these kind of screws. Like the MAGNA EDP No.48240. What does the kit contain you ask?

Remember when there were small lockers at swimming pools where you could store your stuff? We had 2000 of these in our 5 municipal pools. Every November we pulled the money driven locks called camductors out, took them apart, removed washers, slugs, electrical knockouts etc and cleaned and repaired them. I got tired of sharing tools with the foreman so I bought my own kit. You could also repair pop machine mechanisms, locks, anything that would save us money we would fix or cannibalize. It served me well. My old foreman was a World War II vet who helped to liberate Dachau. He was a pretty tough old bird. I have a lot of Kenneth Benning stories. Hats off to our veterans.

Probably doesn't work because you removed those screws and you weren't supposed to.

Thanks, Dave. We are OK, hunkered down with still half a loaf left. Keeping close tabs on all my New Jersey/New York people. Binge watching Better Call Saul, and Ray Donovan. Jim, when I go out, this could be a great time to get my first ever taste of Gatorade.

Thursday Tom said they’ve been testing my fridge, turning it on and off numerous times. Said my fridge the last several days has been cooling very well on propane in his lot, and maintaining a steady 27 degrees in the freezer, 5 dots… Ran through half a tank of my propane. Found no issues to address, said I can leave the trailer with him and they’ll just keep at it, if that’s my decision.

Saw that post on his RM8551 by Kingfish. One thing I’ve never, ever done before firing up the fridge on propane is turn off propane valves, open stovetop and light the stove up, to bleed off any propane and air pockets that might be in the lines.

With all that’s been shutting down across the country the last thing I need is to leave the trailer in Tom’s lot, only to find his gates closed and locked for the duration. (Sniff) …I miss my trailer. Tom said that was unlikely because his business was booming. Right. Picked up trailer yesterday morning. I will self-monitor in my back yard.

I was trained by my Aframe to do the stove lighting thing every time. But I don't turn the valves off before. So out of habit i still do the procedure. Because my Escape fridge works on propane every time, i am convinced that's what's doing it.
