Our fearless leader says they have a stackpile of them but will not be handing them out. Clearly, we are in a pickle.

There’s something distinctly soothing about the presence of an animal - whether it’s a cat sitting in your lap or a dog curled up on the floor.
Animals are innocent. They’re stoic. While our world is in turmoil , theirs carries on.
We can learn a lot from them.
My greatest treat of these strange days is my three times a day walk with the dog.
Adopt a shelter pet.
You will be glad you did.

Totally agree this we plan to do once I finish enclosing the our 12 x 24 back porch. We will be looking for a new boxer to travel with us. We lost puppy (yes his name 75lb boxer ) last July. It is time for a new one to fill our days with fun n laughter that they have a knack for. This one will be our 4th one.

So true...Our pets make us happy, even when we're not feeling so good about stuff.

My daughter was just here for a week with her canine companion dog--he is 3/4 black lab and 1/4 golden retriever and is a total love. Made me wish for the first time in a long time that i could have a pet. I am gone so much (last year about 50% of time total), plus i live in a wild area so nothing can stay outside for long...coyotes, raccoons, skunks, possums, deer, snakes all abound. It is not to be, but it certainly was a comfort having him around.

Our dogs are treated the same as we treat ourselves, we go outside, so do they (unless we go shopping) we go inside, so do they. They are never left outside unattended.

Wake up!!
And when his face is in mine saying "Wake up. You're wasting the best part of the day", I know it's going to be another great one.
Our new-to-us shelter dog. Brittany Spaniel /Pit Bull blend. Picked up as a stray
in San Antonio, TX, bounced around two shelters. Now he's here.

Power tools not carefully used can hurt you but 3 weeks ago I proved to myself that a hand saw (tack-sharp Japanese Dozuki) can do just as much damage. All that's needed is being too clever, and impatient. It will stay ugly, but, no bones got cut. Was a Saturday night. We called 911, three big firetrucks and 10 EMT guys showed up, but by then I managed to stop the bleeding.

I love scrapple. My grandma made a similar concoction but out of pork hocks, oatmeal, and allspice. Called it gritwurst...German farm food.

Well Mark, you will have to drive to Niagara Falls in September to the Niagara Escape Rally to taste some of my scrapple, that is if Customs does not take it away....

Happy Dog says thank you.
When the dog catcher picks up a stray they, of course, have no idea if the dog ever had a formal name. The form they fill out requires a name and birthday so someone in the office just decides what to put in the blank. Someone in San Antonio chose Milo as a name.
After having him home for a few days, he would sit on the floor and just look at my wife and I for the longest time. We figured he was telling us how happy he was to no longer be living on the streets so we rebranded him Happy Dog.
The second day he was with us he laid claim to 'my' easy chair shown in the photo. Now it depends who gets to it first; me or Happy.
Life is better with a dog.
Ed

I'm also feeling the absence of my own pet, because for most of my life, I had a cat or dog or both. I'll enjoy my daughter's fur baby as long as I'm isolated here with her - -which is turning out to be far longer than expected. My Sojourner's finally "all dressed up with no place to go!" Still, I feel fortunate that I'm isolated here with family, because in another two weeks, I'd have been well on my way north, scrambling to find open campgrounds along my route and hoping not to get sick along the way. Praying that each full-timer has now found a safe place at which to weather this viral storm, and may it be over sooner rather than later! Until then, I'll treasure Hazel as she nestles and purrs in my lap.
