hard to find parts - suggestions?

The hinge is broken on our Dometic fridge in a 2005 17b, everything else works perfectly. I am looking on ebay for parts, I called Dometic and they don't have the part, it is discontinued. I also emailed getrvparts@gmail.com and they don't have the part. If anyone has a gem of a place that they recommend to try and find random hard to find parts, I would greatly appreciate it! It looks like the top plastic edge of the door could be taken off with screws at the top, I think that is all we would need. I attached a pic too...

Thank you

I would repair it with plumbers' epoxy putty. Cut off a chunk, knead it and press it in around your insert and fit it to the contour of the door. In 30 min. it will be hard as a rock. It looks like the door structure is open enough and has internal structure for the putty to form around and grab onto. The epoxy I use is gray and would be a fairly good match to the door trim. A lot cheaper than any Dometic part.

With a 17 year old unit, you may have to start making your own parts, sad but true......

I agree with this. Maybe rap some kind of thin metal band around & screw the ends, to that very top part to hold & form the epoxy, & from maybe cracking later. The top hinge has the most sideways stress opening.

You might also check with Larry Gamble at Little House Customs to see if the Fridge Hinge repair kit would work for your application. It's by model.

I’ve had good luck using JB plastic weld when having to repair obsolete parts
