Hatch cover replacement for shore power connection

The hatch cover for our shore power plug-in broke off. We can still connect the power cable okay, but weather protection while traveling is gone. Any suggestions on where to get a replacement?

I don't know if they are still using the Marinco brand inlet on the trailer, but if so, give them a call. I had my cover latch go bad so it floated in the wind, called and asked about a replacement & they sent me an entire inlet for free. It was a bit difficult to replace, but maybe they would be willing to send just a cover.

One problem with just replacing the cover - it doesn't appear that there is access to the hinge pin. It might just snap into the body, but if not, you would need to find away to attach the new cover.

Ours is branded "Conntek." I found them online but apparently the hatch cover is integrated with the power inlet, so the entire unit has to be replaced. Now I'm thinking I should probably just have the local RV repair shop do the job. I'd rather pay a pro to do it right than to take a chance on screwing it up myself. Thanks for the reply.

Just FYI please see the attached pics, the Conntek cover is a separate piece that snaps into place. Replacement requires
  • Finding a replacement cover piece
  • Loosening the 3 bolts holding the outlet in place
  • Prying the outlet away from the trailer shell (it's bedded in Proflex or similar)
  • Snapping the replacement cover in place
  • Applying Proflex sealant or similar (keep clear of the cover pivot)
  • Tighten mounting bolts
If having a shop install a new one, it might be a good opportunity to consider this robust alternative replacement which fits within and completely covers the hole for the OE Conntek outlet (DIY upgrade is the reason mine is available for pics): SmartPlug combi kit with cord-end and stainless steel outlet (google "B30ASSYNT" for sources other than Amazon)

Have Fun!

If you notice your power outlet cover is flapping whilst you're driving just push it down so it looks like it's closed and then give it a fist bump. It has a subtle detent that will hold it closed. You can feel it when you go to open it.

Just passing on a lesson shared with me which wasn't covered in orientation...

Safe travels, Doug

Thanks very much! That did the job. I thought it was always going to be flapping whilst I was driving
