I suggest Seafoam , I add 2 cap fills to every tank. Plus I use Supreme Chevron it has no ethanol. My 2012-2000i has never had any issues to 3,200ft.

I think the sea foam is a good product
And I like non ethanol gasoline. Of course now after announcing that I don't care for Ethanol the governesses goon squad with pitchforks will be out after me led by the aging Chuckles.

But opening surge is not the problem here. The Micro air sees to that. And ethanol seems to not be a contributing isssue. Problem seems to be the long time running at 1900 watts when the 11,000 wants 3500. Thinking now only solution is to buy a second Wen and run them together to make that. That may happen since the 2350 is selling currently at a very attractive price. It is a nice generator. The good news is for boondocking one Wen handles my RM8551 just fine, and that's really what I got it for.

I think you've found the issue Myron. And even if the Wen ran the AC "without issues", since it's constantly running under the wattage it expects, there's the possibility of damaging the AC.

Wanna hear a funny story? This model Wen claims to be an "...extremely quiet 51 db at quarter load..." Through the miracle of modern cell phone technology I was able to get an ap that measures db sounds and used it to measure my Wen. Here's what I got:

DB levels WEN 2350W – only load is refrigerator
Inside trailer, from at the bed - generator on Eco mode 12 feet from trailer 36-37 db
  • Outside on Eco mode standing 5 feet away 64-65 db
  • Outside in Eco mode standing 20 feet away 58 db
  • Outside on full power standing 5 feet away 75 db
  • Outside on full power standing 20 feet away 65 db
How do you get to "quarter load?" Gotta love them ad guys.

Just sayin'.... Always thought my 11,000 BTU air conditioner was way loud. One reason why it was used rarely. Just made measurable observations on its actual sound.

When sitting in the trailer on the bed with the generator running on full outside, about 20 feet street side from the trailer, and the door open, I get an inside dB reading of 46.3 dB. Then when talking normally while on the bed the db reading I get is 63 dB.

Then I turn on the AC, full fan, still on the bed and basically under the AC, and my sound meter gets a reading of 70.9 dB. It ain't a Honda.

I’ve been researching generators and the EU 2200i is on my short list. I could have sworn that I read some where that 104F was the max operating range. I spent some time looking for this tidbit of info but can’t find it so maybe I’m wrong. ( 🤔 hard for me to think that’s possible, but maybe) But anyway you are at 8k feet which reduces your engine power by 28%. That’s a lot, and running at 100+ degrees is also limiting the ability of the air cooled motor to dissipate heat. If you don’t have the high altitude modification to you carburetor you are running rich, which can cause plug fouling. In any case you’re running the generator in far less than optimal conditions.

For those who've been around hot rods: Heat, Poor Spark, Poor Fuel, Elevation and Dirty Air will quickly turn a "hot rod" into a "mini bike".

The small Honda is perfect because of its size but is imperfect because of it size. It's too bad they don't up the power by a tiny bit.

We have a 2200i, and I don't recall ever reading about that operating range info. I can say that last summer we had our 2200i in Lone Pine (4000' elev.) at 107° outside dry bulb temp. with no problem.

(The next day, we moved up to 8000' at Whitney Portal, where it was only 75°, so no A/C needed!!).

According to their manual, running above 5000’ you should install the high altitude modification ( probably just a smaller main jet) to prevent rich running. Should be changed back to stock below 5k’ to prevent dangerous lean running conditions. 🤔 wonder if fuel injection is in their future…..

Fuel injection makes a lot of sense for more efficient and trouble free running. Altitude wouldn’t be a problem as this could be programmed into the run module. Down side is initial cost and with the small generators the extra weight as a battery and fuel pump plus control module would be needed.

I should have mentioned that we have installed a Hutch Mountain tri-gas kit, so we run it only on propane, or on national gas at home.
