Hot Water Tank DSI FLT

On my 2018 Escape 19 the hot water tank works on propane and shore power. My understanding is the On/Off switch in the outside panel of the hot water tank controls the electrical mode being off or on.

I am just getting set to go on an camping trip and running things on the driveway right now. I don't have propane turned on so when I turn on the interior switch for the HWT I get the DSI FLT light (which I assume means no gas to the HWT. Will the HWT work with the outside switch on (controlling shore power) and the inside control panel switch off (does this just control propane use or overall use?)

Yes, the on/off switch in the outside panel controls the electric mode (120V).

Yes, the DSI FLT is due to the propane not being on (since the inside switch is to control the propane hot water heating, not overall function).

Yes, it will work with the outside (120V) switch on and the inside switch (propane) off. In fact it works in any combination - only outside (120V), only inside (propane), or both on (and then it heats up faster!).

If you have 120v power to the trailer, make sure to never turn on the outside switch without the hot water heater full of water or you will be learning how to change out a burned up hot water heater element.

Dashford: Perfect explanations above but just in case you want to know what is behind the DSI fault light see this recent post. It comes on after the gas side of the system fails to light after three tries.

Thanks for all the quick input. Inside panel...propane control. Outside panel...shore power control.

Unless you have the upgrade monitor panel. Then the hot water heater 120v switch is inside as well.
