Houston Humidity and Storage

Hi all, I recently moved to Houston from Canada. Dealing with high temps and humidity is new to me. I have my 19’ Escape in an enclosed storage unit (not sealed). Storage unit is open for air to pass around doors with gaps top and bottom. Will I have any damage due to humidity while storing it? I currently leave the max air vent open (not running) and all is good. Appreciate any advice and lessons learned!
Thanks.

I had a 19 and now a 5.0 in Houston since 2015. We have no issues with humidity. I keep the max fan open and all the cabinet doors inside the unit open while in storage. All is well.

Yeah, you should be fine.

As for the humidity and heat, it takes a couple of summers to acclimate, but you sure picked a dandy with Houston. We live in the Hill Country north of San Antonio and are often west of the dry line. In Houston, no such thing.

We have lived in north, south and west Houston. The humidity can vary depending on what area you live in. Basically the closer to the coast the more humidity. Having said that, we now live in Friendswood (south east of Houston) and the humidity is worse here. But our 5.0 in storage is quite happy.

We used damp rid in our casita to absorb the humidity. We store our new E19 in SW Houston using a cover. It’s to soon to tell if the escape will have moisture Issues, but we have a unopened damp rid ready to go.

If you have electrical power in storage, a dehumidifier will keep the moisture at the percentage you choose. I run mine into the sink, gray water tank, and through a hose as I changed the cap on the drain valve to one which has a “garden hose” fitting. Living in a rural area, I let it drain onto a couple of landscape plants behind my carport.

My 19 is sealed well enough that I went for the opposite strategy: get the humidity low, put a bucket or two of damp-rid in there, and close everything up.
