Interior wall cover - gen 1

Has anyone removed the white corner covers on the corners of their generation one Escapes? I have a 19 and would like to remove them and recover them. There are caps in the middle, but before trying to remove them, it would be good to know the best method of taking them off. As always, thanks for everyone’s help!

The cap covers a screw which holds the corner piece in place. There maybe wiring behind the pieces up to the over heads.

A little screwdriver to pry the cap off. The screw holding the corner section in place is probably one of them Canadian Roberts head screws.

A little anecdote on the Robertson (square slot) screw. Produced by Canadian Peter Robertson in 1908 after developing a mass production process that cured its tendency to strip out the head, it became very popular across North America.

Even Henry Ford used them in his Model T since the screw design reportedly saved time in building the vehicles...and time equals money. That's around about the 'time' old Henry decided he wanted exclusive rights to Robertson's design.

Our Peter Robertson refused to relinquish those rights to Henry Ford, so he subsequently went with the less popular Phillips screw. So in the end as always, someone was screwed.
